Me, a non EE, spent all of lunch break looking at ultracap pack construction
these are awesome even as usb power banks, especially if you can make them usb-pd.
13x 20Ah
@Scepterr final results?
I’m too impatient
lmao, it’s not done, but almost
4.18v 18.5Ah
3.5v to 4.18v and 18.5 amp hour. That’s looking good
Final Result
3.5v to 4.2v 19Ah
will do discharge test tomorrow morning
Nice! So if that was from not-even-dead, then should we expect the full 20ah from these bad boys?
Waiting on this ![]()
Thanks for your science @Scepterr!
yeah 20+ depending where you wanna cut off, at 3.3v maybe 21-22Ah
interesting find, even on mute you’ll get the gist of what STOBA is, jump to 2:30 to see our battery being assembled at the factory
Looks like these would make ideal range extender packs rather than main battery packs. Just need a change and ride solution.
quick update, cell is still at 4.20, indicating low resistance/self discharge. I’ll do discharge capacity test later today.
Thank you! That is great news! These seem to be quite legit as range packs /power walls.
(If you have any way of testing max discharge, that’d be valuable info, too.)
Cracked one open and all cells were at 3.50-3.52V. Gonna have to figure this bms out though, they don’t output right away. But look so easy to reconfigure into another pack, and wire a better BMS. 10 AWG wiring inside, made very well.

lol already working on it, it’ll be easier when I get more, don’t wanna send @Mr.Electronicist poking around the BMS and blow it up
They are back in stock (10 currently)
For those who need Freedom Units for sizing:
0.776 in * 5.575 in * 4.173 in
@Scepterr
Did you get to do a discharge test?
not yet, busy enjoying an early spring in NYC
Going off of the boxes original factory shipping label, these shipped out 10/19/2017. So they really aren’t that old
