Anyone else running Orca Slicer with their Bambu? I just downloaded it and started running some calibrations to try and really dial in my prints the best I can. I like that it’s just a fork off the original bambu slicer, so it’s basically the same but with more options/features.
Nah I still use original. Just downloaded orca for my new klipperized printer tho
I’ll be curious to see if I can get any better quality prints or more speed after manually calibrating, compared to the auto flow calibration. Just trying with a PLA+ right now.
What filament is that?
Bambu brand pla
Did you dry this filament before using it?
You using the bambu pla profile? What temperature? I had this happen one time with silk PLA
Yes, I had a solid print with the same stuff.
220 temp
Pla plate
It just globs up at the start of a run and fucks everything
Are you running bed leveling and calibration before print? Almost looks like the z offset is too low but first layers look ok. I’ve got a roll of bambu PETG that’s being a little bitchy too right now
Is your build plate completely flat? I’ve got a couple bubbles in my cool sheet that cause issues.
Yeah I read up on all that too. The answer ended up being that pla will eventually clog nozzles sometimes because some filaments leave behinds small particles in the nozzle. I replaced the nozzle and it was good as new. Next time this happens, I’ll know what’s going on so I’ll just attempt to clean the nozzle.
I had my first AMS mess up yesterday. I have a roll of PETG-CF in slot 4, and regular PETG in slot 1. Was printing something with the CF, had it selected in the slicer, made sure it was selected in the final print screen after you hit print, but it loaded the regular PETG from slot 1 for some reason. I looked at the print after a bit and was wondering why the infill looked so bad and then I realized it. They are both black so it was hard to tell at first. Not sure what happened. I canceled, manually pressed “load” on slot 4 to queue up the CF, and chose the same file off the printer cache and it worked ok. Just a derpy moment I guess.
Weird. I haven’t had that issue but haven’t printed many particle filled filaments so far. Tried petg gf and it was clog city
I believe latest updates to the Bambu Slicer incorporate a lot of the Orca features.
Yep, I just updated my printer and bambu slicer software. They did incorporate some of the calibrations in it which is cool and helpful. I’m still not sure what the difference between flow rate and flow dynamics are, but it’ll calibrate for both I guess. More stuff to help calibrate on textured PEI which is nice cause that’s what I print on almost exclusively
I got the new gold-coloured textured PEI plate recently and it’s great. Sometimes I used to have to print a raft when printing PLA on that plate but so far I haven’t had to do that once on the new plate.
I just did the update too. Mine prints really good as it is, i’m scared to ‘calibrate’ anything in case it all goes to shit ![]()
Yeah luckily you can do them auto or manually. One (flow dynamics) basically dials in the number so you don’t have to run a flow calibration before every print, and flow rate is what it sounds like. I noticed better quality on ABS so far but haven’t messed with it a ton yet
