Archived: the OG noob question thread! 😀

On this side, all MOSFETS have:
Pin / + or - / Resistance
1+ 5,2 MOhm
2+ 60 kOhm
3+ 60 kOhm
4+ 0 Ohm
5+ 60 kOhm
6+ 60 kOhm
7+ 60 kOhm

1- 4,8 MOhm
2- 37 kOhm
3- 37 kOhm
4- fluctuates
5- 37 kOhm
6- 37 kOhm
7- 37kOhm

On this side, all MOSFETS have:
Pin / + or - / Resistance
1- 0 Ohm
2- 0 Ohm
3- 0 Ohm
4- 37 kOhm
5- 0 kOhm
6- 0 kOhm
7- 39 kOhm

BAT+ values jumped around… Increased or decreased constantly…

Try using the three motor phase wires instead of the MOSFET pins themselves.

Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

The three big wires coming out of the ESC and the two big ones going in

All show 38kOhms… But the values are increasing when measuring longer time…
After 10 seconds it went from 38kOhm to 38,2kOhm and so on…

No shorts is all I can diagnose xD

Yep, sounds spot-on.

All good :100:

Alright, so it seems to be the DRV
Thanks!

Are you still going to sleep or is your night already over?

I’m genuinely convinced Brian doesn’t sleep. The man is absolutely dedicated to being here at all times. Honestly it’s impressive

So what is the problem here?

DRV on my Flipsky 4.12 is dead
@seaborder will get me sorted out
I tested the MOSFETS resistances:
I have 38kOhm between the 3 phase wires to GND and VCC, the values are rising when waiting and leaving the measuring sticks on the connections.
Is that normal?

Yes.

How do you know the drv is dead?

So, I stumped upon it while trying to read R and L from the motor and hall sensor measurements. Everything failed and there was the 3 times blinking of the red led. After typing faults in the terminal, I got something like DRV_ERROR.

Out of curiosity, why does the resistance sometimes increase, decrease slowly over time when measuring?

I see, that sucks, wish you the best of luck.

Resistance measurement moves around after some time because of capacitances charging and discharging.

You disconnect the usb and restart your board.

Step 12 : remove usb
step 13 : remove power/restart board

I switched to fw 3.62 on 4.12 vescs.

I noticed that on low speed my right motor gets “stuck” as if you hit a rock or something. The motor amps in that moment drop to 0 or even in the negative for a split second.

at the end of the video, right before i stop you can hear a knock. Thats when it happened. It happens on bench and with load. Cannot duplicate it manually. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it does not.

Resistance increases with heat as well the “thermal sensors” are just resistors with known resistance and when heated the increased resistance (or actually the voltage drop from an applied voltage across the resistive wire/element) is measured.

Had that too multiple times, but with firmware 5.1 :neutral_face:
Not good :frowning:

Your motors are dead Silent though compared to mine

I think my Motor is fucky anyway.

takes a bit between both detections. I Recorded and made the detection on the same phone.

video 2 coming in a sec. There the motor stop too with the problem i described before. A split second before the motors stop you can hear the knock again.

The right one doenst sound good… And the clock like ticking is scary :joy::sweat_smile:
Your motors sound like a lawnmower or Harley Davidson bro :joy:

I bought this esc off local craigslist.
Do you guys know what pre-built board its off of?
typical chinese esc, 10s hub motor esc, push to start, auto shut off, only 25km/h max speed though
