To me less stuff on the board is less stuff that needs to be vibration proofed and I feel safer charging batteries in a fire safe box purpose built rather than on a pile of fuel but I see the ease of use of plugging in a BMS.

This is true, but then you have to spend 5 hours waterproofing the board every time you charge the battery

Thatā€™s ridiculous

Honestly Iā€™ve just rolled the dice with the lipos getting wet but rest of the electronics are conformal coated I am going to print some TPU lids for my battery boxes on the lipo setup though and working on a more sealed build with AT wheels for crappier weather.

I made waterproofing my batteries easy. I use tupperware like boxes with a seal for my electronics. May not be the best looking but swapping is super quick and still waterproof.

Hi everyone!

Iā€™m running 4.12 vesc board and constantly thinking: should i stick to the 50a constant current limit of the vesc, or I can go higher, up to the limit of my motor (80a)? Hope to find an answer here.

Then you probably donā€™t have an electric skateboard, you probably have an electric mountainboard. Those are extremely impractical for me to us as transportation. I need a skateboard that has longboard wheels and all the batteries underneath and is short and light.

the 50A refers to battery max, you can set almost everything that you like for motor max.

Ok, thanks mate

I have both. A Mountainboard with everything top mounted and a electric longboard with the battery top mounted.

What kind of truck axles do MetroboardXā€™s have? I ask because Metroboard sells spare parts. Their description of the AT wheels say

Includes set of 28 mm OD x 10 mm ID x 8 mm wide bearings (for use with MetroboardX).

But then the AT pulleys that I assume go with these wheels say

Includes Pulley Bearings (28 mm OD x 12 mm ID x 8 mm Wide).

Soā€¦ is one of these descriptions wrong? Or are these two items not meant to be paired with each other?

brilliantā€¦ok. I learned something new today.

The answer to my question was on the product page for the skateboard itself

10 mm / 12 mm Diameter Stainless Steel Truck Axles designed to handle the abuse of hard core riding!

So their axles are stepped. These wheels go on 10mm axles hmm

anyone ever tried these? https://www.boardbumpersshop.com/product-page/gt-gtx-at-large-motor-bumper-version-2
Anyone know of something similar stateside?

i saw on here someone looked like what was a paracord as a handle going out the back by the rear mounted motors. Anyone got a link?

Yes. Have those (boardbumpers large motor bumper) on my build. Let me know if there is anything about them you want to know.

Dope! Do you think they will work on toruque board motors mounts?
Are they a nice nylon or super cheap? Are they holding up?

They are super sturdy. Made of solid quality material. Donā€™t know exactly what material though. I have my board standing on those all the time, and they are holding up. They are made for Evolve motor mounts. The torque boards motor mounts would need to have roughly the same shape to ensure a good fit. I can get back to you tomorrow with some measurements of the bumper.

@onebluesummer We have some 3d motor covers that we havenā€™t gotten done yet but we can make them available and/or we can send you the stl so you can print them out.

Flatland 3D also had something for this.
