ARCHANGEL | Semenbone, Solo V2, AWD Track Weapon

As most of you know by now. Sidewinder was involved in an unfortunate accident and has since been decommissioned. Therefore, it’s time to build a new race board… although much sooner than expected.

Introducing… Archangel, named after the Lockheed A-12 project which was the CIA’s slightly smaller and faster version of the SR-71 Blackbird.

Anyways enough of that, back to the build.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

@Dsk8 put his Semendeed deck up for sale at the perfect time for me to snag it for the build and it arrived at @Skyart’s shop 2 weeks ago. The original plan was to do an 18/4 pack of the eve 40pl’s so all the electronics could be mounted in the enclosure.

Instead, I ended up buying @JeffyJ’s esk8con pack and am working on a center mount top box with @Tasventouras for the solos that’ll be easy to remove (if needed) for shipping the board.

Gonna go with 205kv 6465(front) and 6495(rear) motors for this build. Should allow me to max out the v2’s on the track if needed.

I want to give @Titoxd1000’s Duality trucks a try on this build after seeing how well they’ve been performing with @tuckjohn and @Dinnye.
I just received my custom motor mounts to run open gears from @IDEA and they look amazing as always.

Sidewinder’s short rod 3links are in storage which I can revert to should I be unable to tune the Duality’s in time for esk8con. Also gonna attempt to run the brp’s on these trucks, (should work) but if it doesn’t, I’ll be going back to the Linns.

That’s all the updates I have on the build right now. I’ll have plenty more in the coming weeks.

Bro so stoked to see this up and running! Keen to see how you find the ride characteristics between the Bone and the Deathtoll.

And even better that @JeffyJ finally found a home for that pack.

It’s been over 3 weeks, time for an update!

This thing looks amazing and I can’t wait to ride it. Might need to add risers tho but that’s an easy fix.
I’ve been able to confirm that I can indeed run 6495’s with brp’s on open gears with the trucks @Titoxd1000. There’s enough axle space for the drive hubs and enough clearance to the pivot from the motors.

I’m still waiting on a couple more things before I can put everything together.

Looks sick. Good choice with the AWD. Can’t wait to see it in action.

after trying awd, i can’t go back to 2wd. the brakes and acceleration are leagues above. already got the bnb booked for esk8con.

Going to be faster than hell :metal:t3::metal:t3:
Excited see you shred it. You are making me wanna build a 18s AWD board pretty badly. I think I’m definitely due for a AWD board the only thing stopping me is figuring out whether PPM splitting is better or if CAN forwarding is better.

The desire for you to inward mount those front motors is so strong. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

@zero_ads I was thinking that too but I think if maybe there is some sort of bash guard to defend the motors from impacts facing outwards wouldn’t be so bad.

After seeing Andy zhangs board get wrecked at the esk8con group ride I’ve feared impacts like that

i think i’ll end up doing it on at least the front. just gotta move my trucks forward. i wanted to get a rolling chassis and this was the quickest way lol

do ittt!!! sidewinder was so much fun, it’s a shame she went out the way she did. an awd v5 would actually be amazing on the track id think.

i think i saw that @sugandese had delay issues with split ppm when he tried it. i think most people on and are using can forwarding unless they’re running different esc’s front to rear
