Belts. I found after the thane belts got wet they sound like the rear end is gonna fall off

My experience is the same so far

Keep going, theyll shut up, they take a bit to wear in.

I bought in the original unmarked batch… Had them a while.

Wait… are you saying that after they get once, the belts stay noisy even after they dry!?

Will be curious. After rebuild I’m running the 15mm thane belts on 20mm pulley and find they migrate laterally one way going forward and the other way going reverse. Have tried realigning mounts, no dice. Maybe I have bent axles or wheel pulleys not true. I wondered if the belts aren’t quite true but tbh no idea. Not Mach 1 but all radium drive train.

Any insights much appreciated!

Oh wow, by this statement it would seem that the lateral travel could possibly be caused by the belts themselves rather than the setup…

If that is the case, would flipping the belt make the belt travel the opposite way? Would be an easy test to see if its in the belts.

Will give it a go, I’ve swapped and re swapped things that many times it’s probably been tried, but not methodically. Ta for tip.

Im running the same setup on the 4wd, 20mm play on the wheel pulley is good as it allows the motor pulley to adjust more to suit. It took a bit of fine tuning but they run pretty silent on that board. The M1 this morning made a little rasp at low speed but was gone +20km/h.

Mine are, I haven’t tried flipping them though.
I was greasing mine with a little lithium to reduce the noise, even though everything is running true.

Nah that just means something is bent or misaligned still. Like a bike chain jumping onto a gear or off it depending which way you’re peddling

Greasing is interesting

Liam reckons its nice and quiet again now but i’ll def keep grease in mind. Seems like a good solution

I would use bar soap against the running belt instead. Old trick from the hot rod world. Very little needed to quiet things down.

That’s even better!!!

Will pick up board on Monday, will def chuck a bit of soap in the ride bag! Keen as to get out for a ride and try out the new remote!

Did he say what he did to quiet it down?
