A Better Skatepark Board. 12S1P. OG Focbox. Single Drive.

I was really close to something I could ride…

I just slapped the wheel on the back.

And connected the motor to my little packet.

I shrink wrapped it.

Taped it to the board.

And I feel like I achieved a pretty slim profile so far without the enclosure which was a goal.

So that is cool.

Then for the sake of riding it to try it out I slapped the worlds simplest enclosure on there.

ABS.
4 holes.
4 screws.

Take that @BigBen and @eBoosted and @rosco

This is how it’s done!!!

But hey…
I got to go out and ride it a bit!!!

I am not using fiberglass Brian…
Stop it!!! Lol.

I don’t have it in me…

But to be fair.
I did grab the EBoosted Coyote fiberglass enclosure that was on the Rally Cat to see if it it would fit on here.

It’s built like a tank and I am sure I could drill the rails to it and it would totally survive

But it needs a much longer wheelbase.

So 3D printing is still the plan.

So.
I went and rode it.

It works.

It’s ultra Carvy.

I won’t be able to deal with the single 5065 motor :neutral_face::neutral_face:.

It is totally underwhelming on the street.
And I turned it up to 65 amps…

I had tried to run one of the little boards before with this single motor. Long time ago. And had put it on the shelf to run a 6354 instead.

I was thinking I needed to try it out at the skatepark at least.
To see if maybe there it is good enough.

But I slept on it. And decided to say screw it…

I am going to bump it up to the 6354 here too.

I expect it adds about 130 grams.

I think this compromise in weight is worth it since I know the 6354 performs really well at the park.

I tried to grind a curb and the coper came off immediately, so I am going to try to epoxy it to the trucks…

So the weight savings from the motor is out…

I still have the 8 cells…

I wonder if by the time I add the enclosure and rails if I will end up at about the same weight…

Ok.

So here is the !!!DIY is a Disease!!! Portion of this thread.

So I went and rode it.

And decided the tiny motor has to go.
But that was expected and it’s totally legit

But this was not expected.

When riding the Deck felt a little off.
Kickturns are not as fluid as on the white ATV.

Which made me realize my two Landyatchz ATV Ditchlife decks are not identical…

Maybe they are different years and the black one is a bit more concaved…

As it turns out.
This bugs the shit out of me and the black ATV has got to go…

Possibly the logical thing to do is take the white ATV I know I love…

But i remember it’s a sin to mess up a perfectly running board.

So I am going to run the Hosoi I have set up analog with a waterborne surf adapter now.

I really love the shape of the 1991 Tony Hawk.
But I can’t bring myself to put holes all over that thing.

So I am going to run the Hosoi.
And if that is not the ticket the white ATV may be harvested.

This is the exact same shit I go through.

My short builds all look somewhat identical from a deck perspective, but they can’t be more different. The subtle deck differences are massive.

I haven’t found a better deck than the two tied for first place

  1. Powell-Peralta Bones Brigade Mike McGill Skull & Snake Series Reissue, Bottlenose shape
  2. Powell-Peralta Bones Brigade OG Bug Reissue

That second one they only made like one batch of them one time only, so you can completely forget about ever finding one. (example: used on the green one) I really like to think that of the ones made, mine is hopefully the most used and beat up of them all, and not hanging on a wall collecting dust.

That first one I now have 3 of and they are so good for riding electric at high speeds in the streets (I don’t optimize for skate park) (example: used on the blue one)

But yeah that McGill deck is the bee’s knees. There are multiple McGill decks though; it has to be that specific one.

The struggle is real real…

Here is a couple more short board misses…

One too flat.

One too steep.

So here we go again

I really enjoy working with these little packet set ups.

Makes it easy for me to separate the stuff from the deck.

This Hosoi thing really is a plot twist!!!

i want to say … if you go back a few times, flowing around on acustic will come back and be much fun.
but… this is because i keep telling myself this… and i want to get back.

you are so lucky.

Dude. The single drive is all the fun of flowing around.
Without the frustration of being out of shape and hating life for not being able to get moving

And I can have longer sessions.

If you used to like skateparks and miss it, I could not recommend it more.

It’s so cool.

And once I get the balls to roll into the quarter pipes again it’s going to be amazing.

I know dude.
It’s so cool.
Did you also see about the new daily ride?

@b264 you are good with epoxies dude.

What JB weld should I get to glue the plastic copers to the metal trucks?

It’s not likely any epoxy will stick to that plastic, you’d have to do tests. Try West System 650 to start, as it seems slightly more resistant to cracking during impacts.

Wow.

Last night was wild.

I stayed up until 3 tinkering with this thing.

It is remarkable how much weird things pop up for me…

I started off putting the new motor on the trucks.

Then an easy connection to the little packet.

Lots of tape, hot glue, butyl , to keep stuff in place.

I got better fitting clear heat shrink for the packet which makes me happy.

A dab of VHB tape.

And a couple feet of Gorilla Tape.

Pretty good right!!!

Sweet.
Stoked.
Kinda done really as I was going to mess with the enclosure the next day.

A couple of shots celebrating being “done”
