90’s hip hop appreciation thread

Back in the 90’s I hated hip hop as I was a punk rocker. But since I discovered it’s “on a hole new level”. Regularly I ask people in my age group if they like 90’s hip hop, and literally 100% say yes they like it.

I can’t find any modern hip hop that’s better than 90’s hip hop. WTF?

there’s so much great hip hop from the 90s.

not sure if it counts since it’s more in 2000s, but on a lyrical level mf doom still amazes. not a casual listen, but 2004 madvillany is one of my fav hip hop records of all time.

and i think run the jewels is keeping the flame alive.

run the jewels 3 has been on heavy rotation lately - start with ‘report to shareholders’ feat zack de la rocha, then the first half of the record is SOOOO GOOD.
