6389 and hypertrucks

I need some big motors for some big trucks that I also need. Something around 150kv would be nice.

I know finding the hypertrucks is as likely as me keeping my hair until I’m 50. But that’s why I take keeps sooo we’ll see. I really just want to know if anyone has had luck buying these from Lacroix. It seems there always out of stock when I look.

Don’t think Alex is selling them by themselves rn, boards are too popular. But you can ask him @Arch

I was afraid of this, I sent an email and I’m still waiting to hear back.

I think I remember them saying something on the FB group about not selling separately for quite some time… I really really wanted them so I could do a Prototipo/hypertruck build, but I gotta be honest the bushing issues have me a little scared.

MBS’s are pretty bang on now with the metal base plates. Not as wide I know.

Just get @3DServisas hangers on MBS baseplates

I to am putting together a prototipo for the second time, I used MBS with metal baseplates on the first build and thought they were lacking on the responsive side. Ive read that the hypertrucks do a bit better in this category.

Alex says they want have stock for another 2 to 3 months. I might be looking into the 3dservisas

Many riders prefer MBS over Hypertrucks for better carving. Motors you can buy MT6396. They are also more powerful than the LaCroix.

Ive seen this said at least twice before, and I just dont understand. Ive ridden both and find that both carve the same if the trucks are setup correctly. I have also found that Hypertrucks are much more stable at high speeds than both MBS and Trampa, I currently ride both.

good to know man thanks for the info, I haven’t completely abandoned the thought of them just got sketched out by those bushing fails.

After looking more into it, all the fails seems to be associated with users cranking down too much on the softer bushings, rather than running stiffer duros.

If you say the Hypers are more stable it should be realistic that the MBS are more carvy. Especially with yellow shock blocks.

Out of curiosity what are your bushing/shockblock/spring set ups on all of them? I’m around 200 full clothed/geared up. I have found the best MBS set up for me has been yellows in the front reds out back and the tension screws just slightly engaged with the shock blocks

Same here

When I had my DIY Lacroix I ran yellow shock blocks front and rear. I weight 180ish with gear and thought the board was not responsive enough. But there again I don’t know if I let the blocks break in. Or is that even a thing???

Derelictrobot says the hypertrucks are more responsive than the MBS but he is running them in a Kaly sooo ???

I’m going to go MBS for now until I can try a set of hypers.

How fast did you get going on that set up (Yellow F & R)? I’m a bit of a sissy when it comes to loose trucks, I tend to run mine tighter than most (pivot or channel). I’ve hit my personal top speed on that yellow F/red R combo. 36mph, I know nothing crazy compared to some of the others on here, but thats kind of been my guiding post. Meaning if a set up feels as stable as that MBS set up did above 28-30 I’m happy.

That is if you assume the same geometry and design elements, which is not the case.

Im 200lbs with gear, so I dont like soft bushings.

On the Trampa Infinity trucks Im running yellow (65 in the front and red (80) in the rear. I still had to crank the rear down a lot to stop wobble, but they are really turny. Also, it should be said, I lathed the axles to 8mm so I could run thane and smaller nummies.

On one set of MBS I am running red front and rear, but It’s a fairly short deck and I am still dialing it in. On the other set of MBS trucks I’m running red blocks in the rear and yellow in the front.

I dont yet own Hypertrucks, but I have put some miles on 2 different sets and even at stock they are as turny and more stable than the others that I have ridden and own.

gotchya - thanks for the info man sounds like your kinda in my stiffness preference.

on my Infinities I run barrels now, but when I ran springs (briefly) it was that exact same set up.

I wanna swap to barrels but havent found anyone local that has them so I can try them out. I will run up on somebody eventually I suppose .

Since I have you here, are there different duro barrels available?

no different duro options atm, but what I have done is put mine on a friend’s mini lathe and removed some material at various sections to allow them to give a little more. Some info on that in my posts here:
