The fb320 did have the same profile as the apex airs but the current generation does not anymore. So 3DServisas does have a clamp for the eco mini v2 and some of their other drives from when their fb320 was 22x22 profile.
The mounting mechanism of 3DS is extremely well developed. Currently the best Iāve seen on the market. Running Finality on Airs since June. But still I canāt choose if the bushing setup or barrels is better.
Exactly this. Which is why thisā¦
Is a bit disengenious. Weāve told them their old clamp was perfect, weāve shown it is fine. They choose not to supply it. Up to them, thereās already good alternative options on the market and more coming.
Okay, going to repeat myself once more. The adapters must fit on the hanger perfectly, without any play. Any play is not an option for me. If any issues arise then you will blame the gear drives.
But⦠Everything is made to tollerances. We specify an upper and a lower tollerance to our hanger profile and you will do the same when you are machining the clamps. Something thatās a tight fit on one hanger could be slightly looser with another. I donāt actually care either way to be honest, just injecting some reality into the discussion.
So are you saying you had an old FB320 hanger and you designed your Trucks ends to be exactly the same as the fb320? Because that is the only way it makes sense that the adapter would fit perfectly. And even then why should anyone trust that you succeeded at replicating the design? Why is it so hard to understand that 3Ds doesnāt want to make a clamp that might fit ok, when they want to make a clamp that they know for sure would fit perfectly, and they canāt do so without having a physical truck that they can then test fit the clamp on and do whatever other tests they need to do before letting people put their gear drives on the Airs?
As Audrius said above, if something goes wrong at any point, itās likely going to be the gear drive that gets blamed and not the truck.
This is actually for the good of the consumer and the community in general that vendors are this diligent
Not quite sure why people are up in arms about thisā¦
@3DServisas is known for precision.
When I purchase from them I know everything fits snugly, there will be no rattle etc.
Thats what the brand is known for and thats what Audrius strides for.
And ya maybe most people donāt need that level of precision or that level of precision might not actaully make a big enough of difference to matter but at the end of the day its his product and his brand. He should feel free what trucks he wants to adapt his drives for and how its accomplished.
Itās very odd that there is such extreme resistance to just sending them a truck.
How would he send him the tracking info if heās blocked on every form of social media?
Hereās my 2c on this matter.
This works both ways. We could send a competitor with a history of copying truck designs a hanger for free. Sure. But equally they could send us a set of drives or just mount parts to test tolerances if they wanted.
But considering 3d SAS cut all ties, blocked us on socials and wonāt respond to messages it makes it hard to work with them. They are also not in best terms with @moon over an unrelated issue.
We worked with @moon so that airs and Luna used the same profile that SAS was using at the time to try and get some consistency in hanger profiles.
They have since changed their profile which they are well within their rights to do. Now they have stopped supporting their old hardware and it seems thatās their final decision.
They have made it clear they donāt want to collaborate with us or moon in any way, on this or any anything else.
Its their decision what they make and what they are compatible with.
If you donāt like it then all your can do is vote with your wallet.
Even if thatās the case why would you think that yours and moons standards for tolerance are the same as 3Ds? I am 100% sure if they wanted to make an air style truck we would have had one by now.
The issues here is, no truck on workbench, no adapter.
You know what would be great?
if you guys come up with a competing gear drive! more options is always good for the customers!
Thatās fine. If they wanted a hanger they would have asked, or otherwise they are available on the website.
But they donāt want one and thatās fine.
To be clear Iām here saying if they donāt want to be compatible thatās their decision and people complaining wonāt change that.
Hmm wouldnāt that be great. Wonder if SAS would send us some free trucks so it could be compatible.
Iām sure they also sent a set to @moon so he could make his drives fit.

You know how it works, they are available on his website

Iāve personally witnessed them responding to messages in this very thread.
Pretty sure derail jail police will be here soon⦠but meanwhileā¦

Perhaps I havenāt made myself clear enough so Iāll say it againā¦
I have a pair of their eco drives (used to have 4 but now just 2) with the old 22 x 22mm Square profile and they fit our trucks perfectly. Iāve tested it, both components in my hand. It fits nicely. Like I said I am just saying the reality of it, I couldnāt care less if they make gear drives that fit our stuff or not
Moon drives do fit. Can confirm no hanger needed.
but again is there anything that doesnt fit moon drive? Moonās not anal about tolerance though.
But then again i buy moon for affordability and weight. Not for precision 11/10. And also moons a really nice fellow.

Does anyone know the bearing spacing in mm?
