Wheel comparison thread!

If you’re on the fence, raisins…get them. They’re awesome.

I’ve got a set on an esk8, a push board and also a set with pulleys waiting for a future build.

I don’t see the appeal of small wheels with belt drive, sorry :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

They weigh very little cos theyre small so it doesn’t feel like you’re driving a tank

The Magnums are much better in every way. I also like the Iwonder 83mm 85A wheels more and they are way cheaper. I did a comparison between all those wheels somewhere in this thread.

Magnums are known for bad chunking tho

Anyone try the new 105D or 120D cloudwheels vs the TB 110s?

I know a lot of people seem to hate on cloudwheels and their old core was prone to cracking but I haven’t found any mention of that problem on their newer discovery core?

Do you like the Venom Magnum or the Ahmyo Akasha better?

Let’s ignore pulley issues and just talk about the wheels themselves. (They’re not pulley compatible)

Depends what you want them for! The akashas are nicer for carving, and would probably be pretty good for sliding, the magnums are better for high speed and grip IMO

They are small and easy to carry, don’t get flats, and have long range.

I’m with Ruski. Small wheels are for the skate park. Ride-feel wise, large airless rubber is absolutely my favorite, as I can just run over whatever I want without issues. Went over one of those lil anti car lawn pyramids once without falling. Due to serious range restrictions, and the fact that I can’t get another set of these ones, I pretty much just save them for riding in the rain or when I just wanna REALLY shred, and don’t care if I can’t go far. Pnumies are comfortable, and the 2nd best ride feel, but theres the risk of a flat. Then large thane, rides pretty good, and is maximum range option. Small thane is not my jam. Small thane can lose fights with pebbles, and they just don’t last as long.

I do wonder what some, idk, 80-90mm airless rubbers would be like, though. I bet thatd be pretty fun.

I feel you. Did you try the boosted 105s? they are very similar to rubber wheels but they last longer and are easier to get.

I have a set as well. I can’t get the bearings off of it.

the metal core does make it tough, i just stuck a screwdriver in and started hammering it. DONT use zealous style integrated spacer bearings on them, thats damn near impossible to remove. i actually hate the metal core. its stronger, but hard as hell to work with as it doesnt flex at all. if i could get a new set with a plastic core ahhhh id be so happy.

Have you tried those?

They are quite similar to the 120s Flash. Ich have the 115mm version of them.

I ride those, they’re really good for urban/suburban riding when sidewalks and paths can get sketchy, and sometimes turn to gravel. they hold up like car tires.

These are pretty similar to the Onsra ones that I reviewed.

I don’t really see a reason to get flash over Onsra. They’re incredibly comfortable but they eat battery pretty well

I was gonna take a pic but I keep using desktop for the forum and I don’t think it’s super necessary if you can take my word for it (others can also confirm)

The mboards tires (150mm | 6") that fit evolve/anshul and other oem hubs are confirmed sunmate 50x150.

tbh I’m relieved they’re decently priced and relieves me from trying to start a group buy just to get them.

as for a review, these are my first sunmate tires, they seem stiffer than my evolve kenda clones but they’re also much newer and less bald. I’ll know how I really feel after a few hundred Km

Ridden 120D quite a bit as well as 110s. Forced to choose, it would be the 110s. But for me, new core Clouds are a legit wheel that definitely bring added comfort to the table.

Yeah @Sean1647 I quite like the 120Ds and they’re the wheels I’ve used the most, but imo they are a bit of an awkward middle in size. They’re not pneumatics, but they’re big enough that you need wide trucks or big risers to avoid wheel bite, and they’re bulky and conspicuous enough that they’re not great for subtle or compact boards.
