What should the vendor policy be now?

So were allowed to call out obvious BS?

Like mellow or boosted claiming they have powerful boards? For example.

@BillGordon @longhairedboy If we got anything right on the .builders forum, it was that we asked members to keep Customer Service discussions with vendors private, instead of starting a thread to talk about a single order with a single vendor.

I’m not talking about discussions where technical information is being shared - I think we all want to see that! I’m talking about order status updates, refunds, and RMAs.

Nothing good ever followed a thread that started with “___ is a crook because I’ve waited 2 weeks and I don’t have my product yet! Just wanted everyone to know.” Where ___ is a known entity and the customer is impatient.

It’s not a problem if we have 50 members - but when we have thousands, or tens of thousands, the volume of complaints can saturate the feed. That’s no fun!

Maybe instead of making a rule that the mods have enforce, we just make it a “norm” that those kinds of posts don’t prevail and ask the community to discourage it?

private, account related discussions, yes.

but “this board is crap and here’s why” should always be welcome in my opinion.

Yes definitely! I want to know how crappy, or awesome, everything is!

but yeah no dirty underwear. I don’t want your email screen shots, your receipts, text message screen shots, i don’t want any of that shit out in the open. Mostly because its toxic but also because its unethical because when you enter into a conversation with a vendor because of a dispute, you are essentially agreeing that you are both working toward resolution, and rage posting over it works against that agreement.

I think the forum should adpot the vendor poll thread from the previous:

And make that the Fourth Link up top

This way We have a list of a vendors (with their location and brief description of their services and a poll to gauge what the community experience has been with them without the “this guy is shit thread”.
spamming up the place.

I also advocate for a “Wall of Scam” like link up top that that directs to a list of People who have Scammed the community (Like Alex) This way people can be vigilant and aware.

I also propose adopting these post (note that below are not just only people who have scammed but a person related to an event that has taught our community something):

https://www.electric-skateboard.builders/t/horrible-communication-by-alextech/25597?u=jc06505n

(I Can understand the hesitation be the one above but there has already been various complaints in regards to what he does and I can see his actions Harming the community, especially the battery making community)

Carvon Saga:

ESK8Hubs

Jacob is iffy but there is still a lessons to be learned in his story:

(The post he got banned for is unlisted or deleted but most of us know of the DIYEboard saga)

Somebody just PMed me and asked what i thought about us using titles (or badges?) whatever they call that text to identify vendors as Trusted Vendors or something. What do you guys think about that?

Too much, too soon.

Let’s build some content first and then we can concentrate on the fine tuning of this forum.

That’s a good idea. New users who join can identify that as well, and said vendors can link their website on their profiles so they can purchase their items easily if needed

It’s all relative though. Common sense gets applied hopefully. For your average reddit skater they offer more than enough power.

Hey now, I’ve been seriously considering some way to share the benefits of a universal rear truck mounted steering damper mount + parts kit. Sure it’s not springs…

Not all anti-wobble tech is crazy though! :sunglasses: some is proven in applications outside Esk8, it just needs to be easier for us to use, more accessible, bolt it on and go. I never got even the least bit unstable pushing 45+mph when I was using mine. Best part too was turning a knob to turn it off completely for when you just want to cruise and carve it up. Want to bomb fast? Turn the knob up a bit. Everyday setup I kept mine somewhere in the middle.

Nowadays without it, 30-35 feels fast and I have much less confidence in my boards inherent stability than before.
