thanks, i knew it would be something i just didn’t see. i get kind of blind after midnight sometimes. decided to go to bed last night and just ask in the morning
Enjoying my unit so far! Still learning the in’s and outs, but it has already proved instrumental in getting the most out of my board.
Possible Bug report: I’m attempting to upgrade from firmware 7.0 to 7.10, but the Metr app just hangs at the “Downloading new firmware” screen without showing a progress bar on the app or Megan’s display. I noticed that the Bluetooth symbol would change to red when this would happen. (using iPhone 14)
I kept re-trying the firmware upgrade until it started working (I would have to forget and re-pair each time), and it seems to be working now after 5 retries.
Question: Is there a way to see what’s changed since my current version of firmware? ex. Do you post a version history somewhere? I see that it shows me what’s new with the current version, but not what was new with versions 7.1 → 7.9
Update Via Megan is my go-to.
It’s just my speculation but i think if you update via the app it downloads it via the phone and then sends the update via Bluetooth to Megan. If you update straight through the megan display it uses your wifi to download the update (if configured). Much faster and no middle man
If Wifi is configured - go to your Megan - Press and Hold one of the buttons - once the menu popped up press either of the buttons until you get to “Update Firmware” - press and hold either of the buttons to start.
Having a bit of trouble getting my Megan to connect to a hidden network. Is there support for that kind of network?
And yes it is quite a small user base that would need to connect to hidden networks, but I’m using a hidden network because I’m at a university where students are not allowed to host their own networks, so I’m trying to keep it secret!
just set it up on the public network somewhere like a near by coffee shop. worst case is you get stuxnet on it right ![]()
No, currently the order of operations is the following:
- Megan scans for available networks
- Checks if it has credentials for any of them and tries to connect
It should however be possible to add, but we haven’t thought of it yet and you are the first to request this feature. Thanks, we’ll see what we can do.
Awesome. Will be looking forward to it in the release notes. Thanks!
Have y’all thought about implementing a drag race mode? For example, measuring 0-20 times
I would love to see this too, but you would need to have a much higher refresh rate gps - which the end user could totally acquire
Or could do it based on rpm n wheel circumference, but could be inaccurate
Not really… no way to eliminate free spinning from that equation
I don’t see anyone free spinning at near 20mph. U could spin right up to it from a 0 but once u get grip and start moving I don’t see that happening
If you have any slip conditions it will result in inaccurate data
Yea it could but unless u have some insane power or on a slippery surface it likely would work fine, especially if going to higher speed. I don’t think gps is so accurate anyway.
You can’t use phone gps for 0 to 20 times you need to use gopro or better like Dragy or Racebox. That’s what most of us do
We’re talking 0.1 second precision at least.
You’d want 0.1 second accuracy at least, if not 0.01
We’re talking about 10kw raceboards here ![]()
@janpom @rpasichnyk Question for Minnie : if you don’t Sync records before shutting down the board, is the latest record lost!? There’s no way to retreive it later? (I have automatic upload OFF)
I thought records were saved in the flash memory of Minnie.
Any negative effects from having a Metr Pro and the Megan both plugged into the same system? My SKP solo came with the Metr pro.
Also - I’m not sure where to ask this, but I assume this would be the best place… The discharge option in my Metr app is greyed out. I understand that the Megan seems to not be able to control this when connected over CAN as the option to enter the menu is greyed out, but when I connected to the Metr pro, I was able to enter the discharge menu. But, motor info was not being read and I wasn’t able to click the discharge button once in that little menu that reports the motor info and temps.
Records are saved in Minnie’s flash memory. Powering it down doesn’t erase the records. You should be able to sync them to Metr after powering up (regardless of how automatic uploads are set up).
If you lost a record, that must be a glitch. I’m sorry if that’s the case. Please send us Metr logs and we’ll have a look.
@janpom Thanks for answering so fast! When I “Sync” no newer record pop-up.
It used to work well in the past, but I’ve never shut down the board before trying to retreive the records.
I’ll send log to info@voyagesystems.eu.
Thanks!
