VESC WAND REMOTE soon to arrive from the future

I think it takes either CAN or UART data

@hans_maier If you have an iLogger and need help setting things up please post here iLogger - Updates / Suggestions / Dev [Serious] I’m trying to gather beta feedback and your questions/suggestions would help push the development forward :slightly_smiling_face:

I am considering of getting one. However, my connections will look similar (or identical) to the ones depicting below. Where can and how should I connect the iLogger to?

TX, RX, GND, VCC - 4 pins on VESC?

Using CAN:

I cannot use CAN, since the the 2 VESCs are connected via CAN

You can, that’s one of the features of CAN bus, iLogger can sit in the middle, and forward CH and CL to your other vesc.

Cool! Thanks.

Personally, I’d rather use the unused UART port if possible

To make it happen, do I need additional cables other than the ones depicted and the ones you will be providing? I guess I need to crimp various JST (I think that is how they are called, right?) adapters too?

Why?

Because I don’t want a device forwarding critical control signals for me. I’m sure it would be totally fine, but if I have the choice, like you do, I’d be connecting it to the UART port.

TX, RX, GND, VCC like @ApexBoards suggested?

I just saw that the device used 5V, so instead of VCC use the 5V pin

TX, RX, GND, 5V ?

@hans_maier Please post on the iLogger topic to avoid off topic and have all the relevant information in one place. Basically you don’t need any extra cables, iLogger comes with CAN and UART cables ready for usage.
@Lee_Wright I understand your concern, but it is literally just a parallel jumper, as if you were using a cable.

Just ordered one. As long as the WAND remote from @Trampa does not provide a lifetime odometer (although the simple remote that comes with the Backfire Mini for example does), iLogger appears as an alternative; thanks @ShutterShock for mentioning it.

Of course, the only reason I didn’t buy one is because I bought into the metr pro group buy like a few days before the infinity logger thread popped up lmao
