variESC Tool [SRO]

Same on mine. Worked fine.

Ups, it seems I made a mistake:
‘hw_hd60’ should be ‘hw_60’

Didn’t notice the ‘hd’ in it and now cannot change it again via the VESC Tool :grimacing:

If you upload a custom firmware first on the second tab, then it will again allow you update it from the GUI.

If you need one, they are in here

The problem right now is it’s disconnecting when trying to read the FW version:

You’re not connecting to the correct port.

The ESC is on a USB-serial adapter. ttyS0 is a native serial port on the computer.

You need to connect to something along the lines of ttyUSB0 or something.

This wouldn’t be an issue if the VESC enumerated as a USB HID or custom device class. Too bad that actually requires real software development.

Before I did the fw change (and connection worked) I think the port showed VESCttyS0, or something similar.

I tried now to connect with the mobile via BT and the error message is the same, so it’s pretty obvious the fw upload caused this

It means the ESC is not connected to the computer, the ESC might be bricked.

VESC tool is trying to open a different port because the ESC is not actually talking to the computer.

Important lesson on my first custom fw upload…

What can I do to fix this, upload a firmware via stl-link?

It’s just shitty bootloader and firmware update design.

yes

Wondering whether SWD would be something useful for testing and debugging? Noticed that VESC/Vari Tool have a SWD Prog widget…

This was the only single time I was happy to be using a flipsky vesc!

Not really. The vesc devs copy and pasted a different open source project called black magic probe as a bandaid solution to the problem of constant firmware corruption.

Most of those changes were already pulled in for 5.02.beta.17

The rest are in 5.02 above

cheers

Noticed the FS 6 doesn’t have a SWD port:

How would the pinout be in this case?

Should I flash first the bootloader or the firmware?

Thanks

It does have the pads but the socket need to be soldered in. Pavel did a video on it one of his 9000 videos about the Trampa wand…

Ah yeah, seen it on the board, thanks.

Which sensor port should we be using for super single mode?

The one closest to power mains I presume?

Yes, that one.

The one opposite the USB port.
