USA - Los Angeles - (CLOSED) Metro Board 155 tires Group Buy

Yeah they say they are holding their current stock for completes.
but I could still checkout on a tire set at full price on the site. so… I’m guessing I just barely arranged this discount and Ilan is holding stock for full price orders in addition to completes. which is his prerogative.

man so many storied of accidental orders of completes instead of just tires, that’s crazy.

Send me a set of the extra wheels. :stuck_out_tongue:

TBH with you I’m actually shocked metroboard is using these hubs. They’re pretty low quality. Jagged/sharp spokes, uneven alignment of bolt holes and they feel cheap in comparison to my $15 MBS rockstars. The uneven bolt hole spacing is probably why their pulleys fit inside the hub instead of using the bolts to secure them.

Wonder how Frank feels about them using knockoffs of their superstars lol.

Frank is just generally pissed at everything anyone does to copy his stuff lol

Random question for anyone who’s ran these. How are these when they go flat? Do they try and kill you like bergs or are they able to be ran flat like 6x2’s?

Flats are okay in a straight line to get down to a stop, they just wobble noticeably I wouldn’t say you could ride on a flat, maybe at really slow speed. If it happens on a turn it might through you off balance if you’re not expecting it, happened to me yesterday and i just had through my hands out to balance out. The sidewalls is really small so the tire doesn’t really any where to go so it’s not that bad… I have one persistent flat that I holds for a while with slime, waiting for tubes from this group buy. Other than that they are holding up way better than bergs. 6x2 I stopped riding because they feel kind of dead

I fucked myself up pretty bad when a berg went flat. I started to carve and I think the tire tried to walk off the hub. Straight up threw my ass off the board. I’m running 6x2’s now and yeah the grip is really nice but they dont feel as nice as the bergs did. Hoping the metros are the best of both.

They ride better than bergs with pretty good durability. Bergs roll over even with air lol and get flats from normal riding, couldn’t get rid of those fast enough.

managed to fully kill 3 more tires in one day on the same board.
With this deal in the works and the sunmate group buy on order feels silly to order another set of tires from somewhere… but hmm. I’m kinda out of tires.

really need metroboard to come through for us soon.

cc @Accrobrandon  for reference.

Last message from Metroboard was:

As soon as I know a shipping date, I will let you know…

He had asked that I check in 3 weeks. that will be the 30th. we’ve waited 2.5 weeks. plus i bugged them in between. I’ll reach out again after the 30th.

Noted someone else actually unable to buy the 155s off the site. so it’s not just us waiting.

Metroboard has info on their shipment, and expects (hopes?) it’ll be arriving around the 21st. ( not a guarantee. )

They made available 5 sets of tires to ship to me early. Which i have purchased, and are on their way. 3-4 have been claimed already by those in more dire need of tires. (one of them is me. ) if you’re also too desperate for the wait, reach out to me to claim that last set.

again sorry for the delays.

Also noticing delays from sunmate group buy. And hints of dearth of kenda 909 tires out there too. giant tire consipricy?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Metroboard got 20% of their shipment and delivered on full price back orders and the 5 sets I mentioned above.

Turns out they had an issue with the tubes. the valve stems are in a very not optimal orientation. They are working with the supplier to get this fixed and send out replacements to those who already got tires. as they stated in an email sent out to customers.

Dear Customer

We are working with our supplier to make a new batch of inner tubes with the correct valve orientation and will reship as soon as we have stock. We don’t have an exact ETA just yet, but hopefully this won’t be more than 2-3 weeks till we can reship. Thanks again for your patience. We appreciate your business and sincerely apologize for the error.

They should be receiving the rest of their tire shipment today, and it may or may not have the same tube valve stem orientation problem.

So the question for you all is should we continue to have patience til the correct tubes are in… or should I push to get the tires earlier and replacement tubes when they become available? depends on how desparate you all are for tires.

Metroboard may have their own idea on wether to wait or not. I haven’t reached out to them yet.

Update. we’re waiting with metroboard on receiving the remainder of their shipment which will now also include corrected tubes. so… another 2 weeks.
