This is the reason why. We have a combination of both though. We chose to use Captive for the American Kart Standard since we assumed it would be the most popular.
This, and because metric wheels usually use studs whereas American ones use through bolts. So the cost reduction is in comparison to tapping the entire 50mm long hole
If you’re looking for more patterns that might be worth having Trampa uses a 71.2mm bolt circle (credit to AlexB for telling me some time ago)
We considered this and decided against it. It’s a dying standard and we don’t wanna play God
come on people get in on this, $150 is a steal!
Are there Trampa gear drives that can attach with bolts? Or would this just be for pulleys?
Either way, I suppose what’s one more set of holes in this cheese wheel ![]()
Yea I’m pretty sure there are spur gear drives, enclosed and open belt drives, possibly helical gears and maybe some 3rd party chain drive or other stuff knocking around.
So much less worth it than other options but it could be the solution a few people need.
I’m going to change my name to Ozark because I don’t know shit about fuck…but would this mod would in conjunction with Rev Phantom’s cart mod?
She’s my favorite character by far.
I believe this would work! I have trampa wheels on mine and theres extra axle left over so im pretty confident!
It looks like the Phantom is using the 4GS which has an MBS compatible wheel interface, so yes, but…
You’ll probably have to drill the threads out of the adapter since these hubs only have threaded holes for MBS pattern. We tried to add through holes, but it just wasn’t feasible with the taper of the hub.
I’d recommend buying an additional set of 4GS MBS wheel adapters to use with these, or maybe Newbee will make some that don’t have threads. @Ean.esk8 what are your thoughts on making this happen?
and this would be dummy easy even with a shitty drill and dull 4mm bit. We threaded them bc
- removing threads is easier than adding them
- allows for users to install m4 studs to make these compatible with something like the BN-AT and other drives that interface on the wheel hardware.
Actually, we can add unthreaded MBS holes to avoid this problem. The user will bolt through whatever threaded MBS adapter they have and the bolts will stick into the hub, like how the BN M1-AT drives worked but in reverse. Drawings n stuff will be updated tomorrow with this change
No such thing as enough holes for you Teddy.
Can we call these the Swiss hubs?
an apt name, I think
Not cheese wheels?
Swisshubs Cheesk8
Looks like we’re already hitting the qty needed to go to $150/set. Woo
You got any offroad kart tires you’ve been exploring or only racing slicks?
I’m curious how’d they handle woods and snow.
I know some other people have been using them. I do plan on grabbing a set for riding on the snow.
Are there any good and cheaper options for wheels and tires? Right now, I’m seeing about $40 a piece for wheels and $40 to $80 a piece for tires. Even at $150 for the hubs, that ends up at $470 to $630 all in, which is quite steep for me. The hubs are the cheap part there, though.
