Turnigy sk3 6374 192kv or Flipsky 6384 190kv?

So i got a pair of the new model Flipsky 6384 and fitted them to a tb218 using a pair of dickyho’s old model long motor mount and a 40t TB pulley as a mockup, it’s 15mm wide, the length of the new motors is 84.2 am and the clearance between them is 5.6mm, I used 1 spacer and 6 speed rings for the wheels, which are 107mm superflywheels, they fit pretty good and look the business’s

Avoiding a new topic this seemed a good one to ask a for a debate…

I am going to build a somehow light 32 to 35 inches for commuting and I am wondering whether a single or a dual made more sense… first I though a single would make more sense to save weight but then I checked that it is not that weight saving…

Let me throw some data:
Single motor:
Flipsky 6374: 980gr
Flipsky 6380: 1100gr

Dual:
Flipsky 6354: 560gr
Flipsky 5045: 340gr

Seems to me that any dual has better acceleration and better brakes than a single. Not worried about top speed here, why would make it sense to go single against those super light 5045? What are your thoughs??

Mounts are pretty light at 80gr and belt/pulley too so not making a huge difference…

Calling @b264 here, cause you seem to have lots of exp on these topic and I am more inclined to single than to dual but find it difficult to justify haha

Well dual 6355 is a really, really good setup but I feel like for commuters I prefer single 6380+ on rear heelside

Don’t forget that you need one less ESC and two less pulleys and one less mount, which is less weight, less size, less cost, and easier to repair. And less complexity tends to break less.

The downside to that is there isn’t any “limping home on one motor in the event of a failure” but that’s an easy $20 Lyft as long as you have a smartphone, and, in practice, I’ve only ever needed to do that twice over many years. Somehow I always seemed to make it to where I was going.

My thoughts are that “dual” is mostly buying you “killer brakes”

(as far as commuter boards are concerned)

Makes sense… one more question if I may ask… I only tried good old sk3 single drive (like what we all built in 2017), how could u describe how much better flipsky 6384 is with respect to that? And how much better the TB over the flipsky one?

I haven’t had one of those. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

The TB6380 is very good. On a single drive, the TB6380 is the best thing ever.

Last one @b264, what couod u say about TB6380 vs flipsky 6384?
