So I just upgraded from a FSESC to a Stormcore. I’m trying to set my wand up and it keeps pairing to the Stormcore Bluetooth and not the Trampa dongle.
Is there a way to temporarily shut off the stormcore Bluetooth module until I get the wand paired, then power it back on? I feel like I have tried everything here.
I can and it works, but I am wanting to use the dongle so I can mount it in a more optimal place. I am just worried about signal strength with how weak the wand is.
Maybe connecting it to another ESC without integrated BLE, pair it there, and swap? Iirc pairing info was stored in the NRF module, so this should work? Idk, I’m spitballin here.
Any idea where the module is located in the 60d? Is it in a good enough place that I would be able to trust the signal integrity more than the Trampa module?
It should be at the bottom left corner, if phase cables are ‘up’
You likely would have better reception with an external, but things like the CF material in your deck will have a larger impact (not saying that’s the case here, just giving a comparison).
I don’t have a working Stormcore accessible at the moment but wonder if you can use VESC tool in the SWD Programmer section to connect to the NRF52 of the Stormcore and use the Erase Only feature, rendering it disabled.
That did the trick! I never even thought of that! I was sitting here trying to cover the thing with tinfoil to block the signal to that receiver, when that is all I needed to do.
The one question is how do I restore it? I clicked the erase & upload button but nothing happens.
So while the built-in one was erased, I checked to make sure it was only communicating with the external receiver and when I unplugged it, there was no signal getting to the vesc, so what you would expect.
Now that it is flashed and working again, I did the same. I unplugged the external receiver again and the wand was connected to the vesc through the built-in receiver. Is it possible that they are somehow connected and work together?
