Trampa Trademark & VESC Tool Discussions (serious)

Wow and I couldn’t expect that they received anywhere near 10K of donations during that time.

In the end it always costs time and $ and everyone here expects things to be free of charge and to happen fast…

And then you see questions like: why the fuck do i need to create an account, and purchase the free version of VESCtool? Just have a download link. Simple

And: Hey frank, why don’t you focus on fixing your own problems with your own hardware first?
Then kindly FUCKOFF

Please pay the bill and then kindly fuck off is not a viable attitude.
On top of the 10K bill we also paid Jeff’s and Benjamin Vedder’s flight to the UK, so that Jeff and Benjamin can debate how to integrate the single processor support into the official Tool. On the back of that meeting also HFI happened…
Such meetings are always 2-3K in cost need communication, organisation and time.

Hey @Trampa
Once more with this BS, good luck with that :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

@yongitech
Pay not attention to this toothless LION :lion:
And do your thing :+1:t3:

Your attitude is sub base level. Without all the efforts of the past years your products would not perform half as good as they do today.

But there is already a fault with the current available default settings that causes a problem around 30mph that has been ignored? Max duty cycle.

There has been progress but not only from you.
But using the community to stop a vendor is not nice and it will not work.
If you have a legal case then do it via the legal channels and submit a formal complain in your country legal system l.

But you openly support violations, don’t you? Why do you do that? Do you think it is good to lock down open source code and then sell the modified code for 50 USD?

Maybe is time to do just that.

But if you think you have a legitimate case then stop whining here and make it a legal case, that is why we have a legal system.

And there is an entire community of hardware/software developers already doing that testing.

How about letting them participate in the process officially it would benefit everyone and avoid these conversations every time you send out a toothless message.

Then do not complain when other developers will lock down their code and you will not profit from their developments. And do not complain if guys like Vedder one day decide to reverse their decisions.

Feel free to cast your vote if you haven’t already…

Amen Ernesto.

@Trampa - Nobody disputes the fact that Trampa give Ben money but that is something you choose to do - you support an OS project so you can also financially profit from it do you not Frank? I think its deeper than that though.

Like @BigBen has said above, there is a dangerous bug in V5.1, this has not been fixed for months but we see that all of the VMS stuff has been implemented in a build. Interesting to see how much Bens release schedule is influenced by @Trampa and your own agenda.

Its almost comical that this is called OS when you personally influence it so much. I predict other players will move away from the VESC code to form their own hard forks because of this.

Just to be clear here, are you claiming that you (Trampa) spent 10K to add only unity support to the vesc tool?

First of all there is Duty Cycle Current limits and the video tutorials point out how to set them and that you need to set them. And second of all Benjamin has his own agenda and we do not put pressure on him to work things in a certain way. Some things need to be worked in a certain sort order to work out in the end. And Benjamin knows best how to go forward.

However, the current issue is that modified software needs to be marked as modified and having different versions of one software floating around, using the same branding and versioning is nothing the community should embrace. It is simply causing confusion and bears massive risks.

A bit more than that, yes. But that is only money. The real pain was for Benjamin to swallow.

But why did you spend 10K to integrate single MCU (unity and stormcore) support for competitor hardware?

I could understand that it might have cost 10k for the software dev time to do this task or that you spent 10k on dev time and some of that was spent adding this support, but im finding it hard to believe that you spend a full 10K on support for hardware than didn’t directly benefit your own development.

@Deodand can you backup the claim that trampa sank 10K of their own money into paying development costs for your code to be integrated back into the main branch?

Does anyone fly drones here? The open source software ‘beta flight’ is well coordinated, co contributed, release tracking etc and evolving rapidly.

I have very limited knowledge in these matters but I don’t see the same tension in the drone community as I do here.

My 2 cents. Im just grateful there are people smarter than me in this world that makes this stuff available to DIYers like me

I would guess that betaflight doesn’t have someone financially invested in the project pulling the strings, Benjamin historically has been slow to implement pull requests and the VESC tool scope is very wide.

If you think that all the work that is found in VESC-Tool is predominately done to make max profit, you are on the wrong boat. So far I would say that more work was pumped in than profits were taken out.

So are you saying that that default is useful in any way? Or is it set to a dangerous default setting that must be changed every time? And to find this out you must watch all tutorials?
