These big ones are a one off according to Dexter. The smaller ones are first batch versions without temp sensors and C-clip on the inner side of the big bearing.

They feel similar in strength but the big ones stay cooler I guess.

So the Standard were the 6355 vs the XL 6374 (which TB DD owners have) ?
I thought TB were about to release 6396 60KV, that would have been epic :wink: and scary for my wallet…

afaik my standard ones are the 6374, 6355 were prototypes only. the XL is bigger than 6374.
I chose 75kv for the big ones. I don‘t think Dexter has plans to sell them offically.

if i recall correctly the housing can be a bit of a challenge to remove and hoping some better seasoned may offer top tips

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. I want to keep my drives in good shape considering they cost me more than a decent pre-built.

@torqueboards are you planning on releasing some maintenance tips and/or tutorials (videos or articles)? What about spare parts like bearings or new motor cans? I know your primary focus is on producing the direct drives, developing new products, and keeping up with customer service but it would be a relief to hear from you!

I’m confident they will hold up to some serious abuse and “thousands of miles of exhilarating fun.” :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@ThomasL - XL version are 6380s. A 6396 is basically the same size motor as a 6380. The only difference is an added bearing and a bit more added space to secure the motor shaft.

Unfortunately, the TB DD XL hanger length is too thin and too long IMO. For it to be more durable, we’d need to use a larger motor as the inside diameter of the motor is otherwise too small.

@Wandagoner - You can use a rubber mallet and ATTACK :rofl: the inside collar of the motor. This will release the motor from the truck.

@Meeep - For the most part, I’d keep them dirt free as much as possible. I wouldn’t recommend riding in the rain. I typically like to use belt drive for rain as things are easily replaceable.

I would re-oil bearings once they start feeling dry. To replace the actual bearing would require a jig and press. If you do have issues, let us know.

Thanks Dexter - i already have the motor dislodged from the truck. i am now trying to remove the housing to fix, what i believe to be, a loose or broken magnet inside the motor.

are you able to provide guidance on removing the housing?

Hello guys,
I put my new 110MM wheels on my never used Torqueboard DD and one motor is loose on the axle creating quite a bit of play. Nuts are not too tight or too loose, and the other motor is really smooth and fits the truck perfectly.

Is this a known issue or is my motor / truck bad?

It’s not really an issue. I have the same thing, it causes some chatter, but it’s only sound, nothing to be alarmed by.

You can take the motor off and glob some thermal paste in there, it will help with heat transfer as well as dampen the chatter. alternatively you can shim it with some thin tape, kapton or electrical tape, whatever fills that (just square part) gap a bit and you will be good to go.

to pile on… i used some thermal tape as i found 3m “33” tape was too thick.

Hey guys.
I am new here. This is my first time building electric skate and i would need a lot of help. I have just buyed 90kv direct drive motor and 12s4p battery pack. I am struggling where and how to connect all wires from motor to my TORQUE ESC BLDC. I have conncected black blue and yellow wire, but where do i need to connect 4th.
How do i connect my esc with nano remote controler?
How do i connect 2 esc with each other?
How do i programm esc and what settings should i select?

list of parts:
90kv direct drive
12s4p battery pack
2x TORQUE ESC BLDC ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROLLER
1x VESC CANBUS
2x VESC male to male
1x 2.4GHZ NANO REMOTE CONTROLLER
1x mini uscb cable
