šŸ’Ŗ TORQUE ESC V6.64 - High Mileage Immediate Testers

TBV6 heatsink is still in the works, still 1+ month away

Makes sense. I’m going to be running a mix of light rolling hills and trail riding on the side, swapping out the TB 160 pneumies for their 110 72A wheels when appropriate. Honestly, I’m just stoked to have these new ESC’s in my possession. Hopefully the anti spark switch/battery indicator won’t be hard to install when I get the 40T battery from eBoosted.

Just so I’m clear…

Motor Current Max: 80A
Brake: ??? The same? Lower?
Battery current 60A
Regen: -12

Gotta bump those amps up with the new pack.
At least 40-45a per side.

Have put some 5 miles on a set of these on flat roads and even mounted on 1/4ā€ thick aluminum plate was able to get them up to 59c Running 40a battery max per side and 80a motor max

Total with the 60A TB 12S4P, so 30A/ vesc

Motor can be 80/-80

Big thanks everyone.

Edit: Also, what’s the Sensor Voltage switch mean on these ESC’s? There’s a 5V and a 3.3V setting. Currently, I’m going to run sensorless for the time being. Eventually I’ll run Hybrid FOC again.

5V I think for all TB motors and maytech etc…

3.3V might be for if you are using an encoder or something.

Hey guys! Just wondering… I’m having bad stutter foc mode but bldc is working fine. Anyone, else having this problems?

Are you running sensored?

Yes running sensored.

Do you know for certain that the sensors are all good? I’ve had weird jitters when one of my sensor wires was cracking

I could double check. It’s running fine bldc sensored did motors detections seem fine.

You definitely want to use ā€œhybridā€ and not ā€œsensoredā€. Hybrid only uses the sensors below a certain erpm. If you were to have a sensor failure, you don’t want it happening at high speed.

But ā€œunsensoredā€ is better* than hybrid in that the failure rate is far lower in my experience.

  • ā€œbetterā€ is subjective, but I prioritize a working skate over most other things. Unsensored sometimes requires a kick or a hip-flick to start though. Sensored seem to fail more often but start very smoothly.

You can also take it to the next level and use ā€œunsensored FOC HFIā€ mode where it starts smooth from a stop AND doesn’t use sensors, but

  • it doesn’t work great on all motors
    and
  • setting it up is not easy

Thanks! @b264. Will try that settings.

Still have some of that ā€œproduction betaā€ going? Don’t know if I should but all the cool kids are getting some…

Found the culprit bad sensor wire loose connection. Working great in FOC mode. Now will try to learn how to setup HFI

Ah nice that’s what I expected. Yeah I don’t even know how to setup HFI haha haven’t tried yet
