Tomiboi Esk8's official sales thread: Products and projects

This has also been my experience with the xcell wheels/hubs. Great at first but then progressively more wobble. Then it got to the point where id shred inner tubes. Got some nice expensive paper weights now. Wouldnt feel good selling them to anyone.

I need to make a poll for pully sizes. It will probably cost about $1500 to get a mold made, so I’ll probably just make one size to get started.

Maybe a zenit marble (I think that’s the one)
Really nice to ride

MBS already has low cost 72t pulleys available, so might make sense to do a run of 60t or similar for yours.

That’s where I’m heading with it. 58-62t.

The rims are in the mail. They should arrive in a month.

That’s a good price!

Interested in making some pulley for these?

I actually could talk to Tomi about that. We are in the same city.

I’m wondering if milling them out of nylon would make suitable pullies at a more reasonable price than aluminum.

No, unfortunately not. Machining nylon is worse than aluminum for a few reasons. It’s very stringy, and hard to achieve a good finish.

This is likely because they are 7075 and designed with most of the barrel unsupported, stiff and lots of leverage is a bad mix. My 6061s never had a problem. Nylon suffers the same issue but in the bearing seat instead of the barrel

Acetal on the other hand…that’s what most plastic gears are made out of anyways right?

That sounds like it could work for a limited number. If you wanted to make more, a mold might be cheaper.

That makes sense. I’m sure 7075 is probably okay depending on your weight, thickness of tire and honestly just the quality of the roads. I live in major city that gets major snow fall every year so our roads/side walks are some of the worst in the country. I’ve personally lost 2 car rims in the 10 years living here, countless bike rims and plenty of eskate wheels. We have bridges that collapse on the reg and busses getting eaten by sink holes.

Damn  that’s really bad. Australia is like that too.

I added them a little while ago but for some reason I can’t upload pictures to my site at the moment.
