So stoked! These things look awesome @tomiboi! I cant wait to get them on my board and test them out. Now I’ll just need to find some time to actually work on my board
My only note so far: the springs could be clipped a little better:
The presale toe-clips have all shipped. I’m interested to how installation goes for people. I’d like to see how people optimize them for their rig. Also, the clips come with a 1/8" foam pad, but I’m thinking of getting a 1/4" pad as well. I wonder how peeps feel about the pads.
I apologize for the spring issue. I did resolve it. I have to use bolt cutters to trim the springs and it’s hard to get in close with them, so I started cutting the springs before installation.
I’m starting to work on a universal stomp-pad specifically for the toe-clips. Additonally, I’m playing with the idea of making a modular high-back/low-back system to work with it all. I’ve never liked the idea of strapping my heals in. I’d prefer something akin to snowboard binding backs. It would give waaaay better heal-side control and make landing airs easier. Additionally, you would be able to step out of it and jump off your board if you need to. Thoughts?
I can change the pads pretty easily. I can get different thicknesses and different duros. The harder they are, the more durable they will be, but you’ll lose comfort.
The pads aren’t just for comfort though. They play a functional role in the ratcheting mechanism. Without pads, when you click down the toe-hook they might not ratchet right down to your foot. You’ll have wiggle room. With pads, you click the toe-clip down to your foot and then the pad squishes until you get to the next click, and viola! You’re in snug. A thicker pad could help to enhance that part of the functionality.
Thanks for these pics. I’m starting to dream up a metal bracket that would bolt to the toe-clips and then to the deck. It would make them function just like the summer-board bindings.
