Nice, but it looks a bit to wide for the palm. If I remember from the evolve days, brake will immediately override throttle input.
I have this r2 sitting around. If you need it for “examination” ill send it to you.

Yeah, I think it’s too wide too, but this is just to validate the software and trigger mechanism. I think I can move the brakes a little bit higher and make it smaller overall.
Thanks for the offer, but in the end I have to fit everything inside and that’s the limiting factor ATM. Also I have gigantic hands and usually commercial remotes are not really comfortable to me, so I’m trying to cater to a wider variety of hand types (and that’s why my GF hides from me every time the printer stops and I want to test a new version
)
I don’t know what normal is but I just did a vesc swap on a scooter with a brake.
I connected the brake to the ADC2 pin on the vesc and the throttle to the ADC1 pin.
The vesc software let’s you determine how they interact.
So maybe the receiver end could expose multiple outputs and let the vesc do the hard work.
The standard is to give the brake ultimate priority, but do not have the triggers mechanically linked.
This is consistent across the Flipsky VX3, Maytech V2 and the evilve r2
Yep this, I believe this is the best way too
Also on the mtv2 the throw on the brake is a bit shorter than the throttle, which seems to make sense too
The longer throw doesn’t prevent you from just using mapping to set the -100% at a position less than full throw.
So essentially, the longer throw can do everything a shorter throw can do, plus more.
I disliked the shorter throw on the VX3, I prefer the full range of the r2 or Maytech brake triggers.
Hm that is true.
I’ve not felt a vx3 before, it did seem like it would have less throw though
those small triggers are just

I know they look so tiny, I mostly haven’t gotten one to review bc I don’t think I’ll like it enough to use it after lol
Good job that’s beautiful.
The throttle trigger is actually pretty large, idk why you think both are tiny. The smaller brake works perfectly fine, it’s only really an issue if you want granular speed control while in reverse.
I prefer to also have granular brake control.
When I was using the VX3 I found the brake throttle still allowed for subtle or strong braking, it was enough to brake gradually but not enough to reverse in just as controlled of a way to the forward throttle.
laughs in Hyst Reverse control mode
I’ve been using hyst reverse recently, it’s basically only good with sensors but it’s been pretty useful. Still getting used to the backwards speed though and it doesn’t really play nice with split angle trucks. It does allow me to do 3-point turns quicker, but I find smart reverse more controllable and stable.
Slimmer remote, slightly longer throw. Ready to start with software!
Once it’s functional I’ll do additional ergonomic passes to really dial in the feel ![]()
hard disagree
For you guys that use separated trigger for brake and throttle, isn’t that really weird and dangerous to ride? As in if you brake and don’t release the throttle, as soon as you fully release the brake the board goes into full throttle?
