New 151kv radium motors attached and drives reassembled. Back yard test was good so will take for a spin later.
I’ll probably open the drives again to check backlash as they sound different on each side.
Opened the box and had a poke about inside, so nicely packed and thought i’d give the box some touch up and kinda ended up on a red underlay with a filthy smattering of black over to muddy it up.
Front truck will be here tmoz so looking forward to an ealy morning golf course run in a few days.
Felt nice and turny in the backyard, ride pending for the feels and i still need to make cables neat and dial in bushings. So far, so good and all worthy upgrades for this board.
What’s your bushing setup on the Newbee’s? I have tall 90a krank barrel/fatcone on mine. But no third bushing yet. Haven’t ridden them tho, waiting for money to buy a nice deck
I took her for a spin up the road and its a bit soft at speed so ill dial that in but to be fair, Ive done no tuning still so im certain itll get to where i like it.
Super stoked i waited for these trucks as an option, if you’ve been on the fence… jump over
Walking around, quite pleased with myself. I havnt ridden this since I rode it to pick up the M1 and deliberately didnt give Al a ride as something just didnt feel %100…
Fast forward to today, and im starting to look at muddy tracks so thought to have a poke about and not just charge on in and go for a ride. Retaining compound failure. Pulley was loose on the shaft and eating the case. Better clean it allup and redo.
Hey Al, over the StepBro’s life, did these 3DP parts ever leak? Not asking about the gaskets between the deck or aluminum. Asking about the actual plastic parts themselves. Like, did water ever leach through pores in the print? I’m planning an enclosure like this for my new build, so I’m curious if I should seal the printed parts or something.
(I dont usually do relive but wanted a rough top speed out of today)
This board continues to be an exciting challenge, im
gaining confidence that the retaining compound is actually solid this time which is allowing for a better ride experience.
Learning to slide it has taken a number of days and an equal amount of falling off it in a pretty decent fashion. Appropriate armor and some hack armor… has come to the party both days haha…
I cut up these knee ones to fit in my back pocket to protect the hip joint at that point, there is a stunning amount of “protection” out there that neglects this spot. These are fabulously comfy.
I am getting better at understanding the board under heavy brakes/loss of traction situations, i was doing some wet bank work where traction was minimal, super fun… i feel like heelside powerslides could be a thing when it gets a little muddy over winter. Was happy with slides right up until I landed on my head with one particular overly excited attempt… yesterday’s rapid departure from the board featured a mid air backwards spin to pull my foot out of the binding before thoroughly testing the kneee and hip armor.
This board is becoming a 1/2 punch with the other one ive been rocking and in all fairness, ive done more rides on this board in the last week than the 03. A trend i see continuing over the wetter months.
Todays riding was the most demanding ive done on it since the rebuild so ill take a captain cook at the pinion again and all going well bring it to the next group ride.
