So far ive been using 1/4 inch rubber as footpads. On my longer range mtb this is no problem but I want to get in to jumping again. I like the pads for shock absorption, they are customizable, and they protect the deck.
1/4 rubber pads are pretty heavy for their size, whats everyone else been using? Looking for a diy route something cuttable/ customizable. Maybe 1/8th rubber?
I use ⅛th inch rubber on Mistfall. Though in my case it’s to allow me to route my motor wires under the grip tape, not for comfort. With how thin/hard the rubber sheet I use is, I dont think it does much for comfort.
What do you use to stick the rubber down to the deck? I have used double sided tape in the past, and that works ok for a time, but it always eventually releases. Right now mine is stuck down with superglue cus I was tired of the edges lifting that’s gonna be a huge pain to remove if I ever do.
I might go with 1/8th rubber as well. Well I was using just the binding holes, and the rubber is pretty heavy so the edges don’t lift much when standing on it or looking at it… but I am servicing my board/converting to jump mode and notice a lot of rocks/dirt in the channel and under the pad. I’ll probably use silicone in the channel this time around.
I was considering eva foam pads or something like silicone mat, the issue is still the lifting but anything has to be lighter than 1/4 rubber. I kind of want to grip to the deck with thicker padded griptape but then its not modular.
