On a slightly less happy note, I obliterated the battery box.
Turns out that even if I know every rock on my usual trails, I still don’t know my new trucks…and they have slightly less ground clearance. Hit a rock at speed, the board stayed and both me and the battery flew forwards…no damage to either.
Good news is that the part that failed is PETG just because I didn’t want to waste time and materials on cutting them from fiberglass on my CNC just for testing. Well, time to do it!
Fun fact: they both have boards! They’re in need of an upgrade though…my son’s isn’t electrified yet but we just finished building a 12S3P for him. My gf needs a new remote and general maintenance, but I thought I had time since she’s 6 months pregnant lol. That means I’ll have to build a new board after all
While waiting for more bushings to arrive in case cutting them ends up being a bad idea, I’ve kept riding and testing (mainly the remote, which is delightful now). Have I mentioned I ran out of loctite while assembling the board? Well, the new one took it’s sweet time to arrive and I forgot…
This is your reminder to CHECK YOUR TRUCKS AND LOCTITE EVERYTHING
Fortunately I heard a rattling noise and slowed down to check, otherwise this message would have been typed from the hospital
