Assuming the pack is well built and wrapped, you should be able to pad around your pack so it is secure. High density foam should be pretty good depending on the amount of free space. And above and below!

if it fit’s in a pelican case you can use the foam it comes with (assuming you’ll shrink wrap your pack)
some use big pvc cases ( I believe they are electrical use type of box)

but I guess making your own box out of wood could work even tho might not be the most durable

I just bought a Haya 92 and want to use it for a travel build. My first thought for the battery was to go
8x[2s3p] to make a 16s3p P42A pack that breaks into 90wh batteries. Then I could make a flashlight that accepts 6v-9v and call them spares. Thoughts?

idk what’s a haya 92 but a breakable battery would be pretty cool if you ask me. I’d love to see the process of how you’ll design the pack

would you use a big single BMS or use smaller ones for it?

It’s been done before so I’m not special haha. I’m going to use one BMS with a wiring harness system. I have a lot of research to do.

Yeah but it’ll be interesting to see your thought process into doing such, also what kind of connectors you’ll use or if you’ll make a pcb as a base

When I go through airport security I put my NESE modules next to my camera & gear. No questions asked so far

That’s a smart pack choice btw. I’m building a 12s3p p42a for my travel build. Are you sure 8 nese modules fit in the Haya? That’s kinda a lot

I was thinking of just shrink wrapping them and putting a sticker with the specs. I only have 23mm of depth to play with.

@Battery_Mooch is it true that the M35A results are coming out next week?

Im about to buy supplies to build a battery. It will be a 12s 16p staggered 3 stack 21700. Can I use 3 sheets of 30mm wide 0.2mm pure nickel like this? 1st will be bent over cell body for series connection. I plan on having the bms max of 100A continuous meaning at 16p, max is 6.25A. People recommend steel city store, is this the right one? The last thing I want is nickel-plated steel. Do you think 5 meters will be enough? 0.2mm * 30mm Pure Nickel Plate Strap Strip Sheets 99.96% pure nickel for Battery electrode electrode Spot Welding Machine|Tool Parts| - AliExpress

That’s the right one.

No, your setup with require around 8.86m, that is 72x 128mm strips. I would go with the 10m roll.

What you could also do is order this too:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001349560425.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.28764c4dxzVxgS

and use it for all the cell connections, then use a piece of 30mm folded over the top for the series connections. 3m should be pretty much exactly enough (125mm strips). Using 50mm+30mm nickel will be more expensive in the end. Basically less cutting and welding using 50mm+30mm but cheaper to just use all 30mm.

Though with 50mm wide nickel it will be harder to place the welds correctly in the middle set of cells.

Only if the cells I ordered arrive this week and I’m able to test them immediately. If they arrive next week then my Patreon patrons will see the test results next week and everyone else probably a week or so later.

Pluggggggg (if yall arent giving this man a cup of coffee a month, then you should consider it).

He also posts a ton of stuff here and it’s really awesome getting all the new Mooch articles and cell reviews straight to my email. Strongly recommend, well worth the money to a good cause.

Thanks for the kick in the arse. Been meaning to do that for a while now.

Feels good!

Thanks for being a fucking legend @Battery_Mooch !

I have a plan guys…

My JBL flip 3 speaker battery is pretty much dead and I don’t want to shell out 20-25€ for a new potentially shitty battery.

I just finished disassembling the speaker to see if i could fit a 18650 but there’s no way.

My idea was to mount the batttery on the outside and integrate it into a stand with a cable running from the connector to the stand.

like here

Thinking about doing either single 18650 or dual in parallel. I think in this case it’s not a bad thing to solder the 1 or 2 cells together.

@Battery_Mooch I’ll do you one better and buy you a beer in person. I hope to meet you at one of the NYCEBOARDING group rides this spring!
