Yeah, exactly like that. Tons of different versions with slight variations in firmware, UI or handle.

Not all of them. https://www.amazon.com/SEALODY-Digital-Soldering-Iron-Station-seconds-heating-up-Soldering-Station/dp/B07ZCTM3CV

And there are at least one or two open-source soldering station designs floating around that you can build yourself if you wanna go that route. The UniSolder comes to mind.

You could build this for like $1 if you’re willing to scrounge.

It’s all about the tradeoff between effort, quality and price.

Want good and cheap? make it yourself from dumpster dive parts.

Want good and easy? Pay the man.

You want easy and cheap? Try banging rocks together. :stuck_out_tongue:

if you don’t like amazon and $60 you’re going to hate me…

Randy Rubinstein of SRA Solder (www.sra-solder.com) is fukking awesome… I bought one of his solder stations… it was there like a
:running_woman:t4:

a month into using it… i had a problem… I called him… described the problem…
and he shipped out a replacement that day and a return postage sticker and a note that said…

"send back your broken station when you get a chance*

I now buy everything solder related from him

hey @whaddys if’n you decide to go the bangUUd route may I suggest you throw in a few of their surface mount PCB kits, cheap as hen’s teeth… fine motor skills, qwick heat and leave, and temperature control, while soldering, is best learned on the small scale

after you know how to do that shit… you can solder almost anything… I feel a buncha kidz just start soldering and wonder why they can’t solder braid an 10ga…

but WTF… I’m a k00k…

Its 10lb minimum on shrink. That’s a lot of stock to carry and ship.

If I picked only one color and size. What mm?

@whaddys I 10000% agree with Kook. After fighting 0402 sized fly-shits, the bigger stuff really seems almost trivial.
