The battery builders club

Oh damn I thought those guys knew what they were doing. This thing doesn’t look safe at all
The longer you look the worse it gets

Lol I was gonna say that is WAY below par for the batteries you make

What laser do you have. I have to cut a bunch

That thing looks bullet proof. You can see all the time and care that went into construction. Very well done!

Aight so this is my version of the stagger style 4p config. 1/4” flat braid with a 1/2” flat braid series connection. Trying to keep this battery as low profile possible. Will be wrapped tight, not expecting any more than micro flexing.

Hoping to finish her up this weekend. Enclosure should be here within a week

So do yall spot weld then solder to your tabs? I always figured the purpose of the tabs was so that you can solder first then spot weld, and therefore transfer as little heat as possible to the cells?

I’m fast. I don’t figure much heat is making it into the cell

Fair enough. Nice solder joints by the way. That whole pack looks really clean :ok_hand:

Yeah those joints are so clean

What best way to check if bms works
I just wired it and am scared for a short

Thanks

Well if it hasn’t popped yet, that’s a good sign lol have you wired the balance leads yet

Wired all balance leads and c- and b-

Should I plug in the charger and hope?

I would probe it first to make sure the voltages are as you expect before plugging into the charger, double check the BMS wiring diagram, and then you’re probably okay to try plugging it in

Triple checked bms wiring diagram

Also where should I probe
In the xt90 or charge port

Nooooooo

Well at the output you should have your full output voltage, charge port will depend how it’s wired

:joy:

K will check output
But why should that be affected by bms as it is a charge only

haha, yeah stick a probe in the charge port, lol…
make sure you have the camera rolling.
(don’t do this…)

You want to check the balance leads at the BMS to make sure they are correct

Checked balance leads and output is 42v at 12s which seems fine

So stick in the charger?
