Does anyone know if the part I circled is the switch connection for the BMS? And if I just need to solder a toggle switch to it? Bought from lithium battery pcb but haven’t gotten a reply yet. I wanna have a switch so I can shut the bms for long term storage and don’t have to rely solely on the Bluetooth

Yup, I think that is what they call the e-switch.

But to be honest, better to take the time to unplug the battery for long term storage. Not worth taking the chance for that extra bit of time to find out your pack is dead few months later.

@BluPenguin, I’m working on an ebike battery. And I’m thinking about making it in a fully sealed battery box, a PETG then fiberglass’ed at the seam and sides to make it water proof and puncture proof. So it won’t be easy to get into… I can easily check it monthly and charge it though. And it’s a 25 amp hour 12s pack so I don’t think it’ll discharge very fast

Ah, it’ll probably be alright then, would just verify the switch works. They usually have very low transient current draw when “off”

Test charging the 10s4p meepo upgrade, seems to be going good, BMS is heating up but only a little, makes me feel like everything is hooked up correctly

why is my last negative cell discharging more than the rest?

Guess it need replaced because on this ride the rest of the cells went down to 3.5V like normal and I went home, but the last cell has been over discharged to 2.5V.

if theres no switch installed bluetooth is always on with that bms right?
I was not aware of that and it drained one of my batteries to like 2.4v per cell after 10 days

since your using that shape, why not just go with a pelican box?
They are rugged and waterproof af

@Acido I think even with a switch connected and turned off the Bluetooth will remain on.

How large was your pack? And it only drained one P group or the whole pack?

@Acido I’m trying to make the battery fit within the frame of my bike. So there are tight size constraints

I wasnt aware that there was a switch, didnt take too much attention to it honestly.
12s6p 30q if i remember well, whole pack drained to 2.4v

@Acido that’s crazy it did that in 10 days. It sounds to me like you had a faulty BMS. Where did you buy your BMS from?

nah, thats just the bluetooth module using up the energy, and a led or two
after the battery was charged and used for quite some time there were no problems as im aware, bought directly from the llt webshop

That’s crazy still. If I remember correctly I think someone on here said it only uses .020 amps at idle and to drain your battery it woulda been .075 amps for 10 days. I forget the thread but there was a discussion on the smart BMS standby draw.

I will measure it after installing one in a few days, they told me they will have them in stock on 28th

I threw it on the charger asap when I got back and checking the cells after 30min shows them all more balanced than they have been previously. All reading 3.63V +/- .03

I will keep a close eye on that cell

Done charging. I will do a short run to see if this issue is happening early on or only near the end of the battery life.

Enclosure height increased by about 1/8 or 1/4 inch. I like it!

I am impressed. I thought I crammed it to its maximum, but you got even more into that poor enclosure. Nice finish, too!
