Looks good to me. Covers all the important parts. Do they hang out over the side or something? Imho they are plenty good - the spacing and insulation are all in the right spots

I have 0.15x30mm nickel strip I bough wanting to rebuild my NESE battery because of arching and significant voltage sag (Molicel P26A cells). Now I’m thinking of just ditching those cells and upgrading to a 10s4p with new Molicel P42A cells. Is the current caring ability of this nickel strip enough if I pull a max of 30 A per cell from the battery. The series connections will bi made with 12 awg. The battery will be used with Maker DV4s (currently running 45A per motor and 35A battery per side)

You’ll be fine w 0.15x30mm nickel. The series connections do most of the heavy lifting with respect to carrying the current.

Shouldn’t u be using the specific contacts that go with nese and are dimpled to get better contact?

I was using NESE modules with original tabs till now. Just last week lost breaks because the voltage droped so much that the ESC totally cut off. Thank god it happened in front my house and I already slowed down a bit and I didn’t get hurt. it was just annoying that I couldn’t use the whole range of the battery but now it has become dangerous, so I’m not using NESE modules anymore.

Took the enclosure apart, measured voltage with multi-meter after an hour or so any everything was normal. This is the battery this morning:

Why would u be having disconnections and cut-outs? Why aren’t u using the tabs they’re designed for?

does this imply you want to switch to a spot welded pack? or that you’re replacing the specific pressure fit neese contacts with your own nickel?

I’ve got a couple battery projects on deck and thought I’d ask before I buy new (again *sigh)
Does anyone have a Malectrics or Kweld they would be willing to sell at a decent price ?

I repeat again, I was using the stock NESE modules for a year.
I tough this issue with NESE modules is common knowledge by now. The compression isn’t enough and the cells bouncing in there and loose contact, Which causes arcing and maybe excessive heating which is deforming the modules making it even worse over time. I think drone001, rusins and janpom all had isues with this modules, probably even more people. But that is all beside the point. My question was if 0.15x30mm nickel is enough for parallel connections for 4p with P42A cells, which Common_good awnsered. Thanks again! :slight_smile:

Yes, though im not familiar with this model or brand so make sure you get the wiring diagram and check that the app works with your devices. With the bms that have a range of cells - depending on your series configuration you will jumper different leads from the header/balance connector as well as set the series count in the app to configure it initially.

Agree with Pecos. I couldn’t find a wiring diagram for them, the instruction manual on the site isn’t super helpful in that regard. It only shows a fully populated wiring diagram which isn’t super helpful

Is a good Varta battery really no longer enough if I also charge permanently with 15.7 volts with 50 amps?
