Not sure how to tell if it is
Sorry, probably hangover eyes, i donāt think it is.
Is your plug too big or too small for the port? 2.1 And 2.5mm plugs are pretty widely available. You can even get adaptors
Oh I see. My charge port is too small for the 12s carger
So you are probably looking for a 2.1 plug or a 2.5 socket. Or see if you can get an adaptor that drops the 2.5mm plug from the charger down to a 2.1ā¦ although im not sure if they make adapters to go smallerā¦
Iām using a 5.5x2.1 and JST connector in my charger line with 20awg silicone wires at 8aā¦itās definitely hot but not uncomfortable, is it safe?
Negatory. You might get away with it, but you might end up with melted/burning stuff. Cannot use the word safe here.
Fuuuuuuckā¦I re-wrapped that thing like a week ago
I guess 18awg and an XT30?
I like XLR if you have space. Is it just the 5.5 jack that gets hot? 20awg should be okay, JST should be just barely okay. I think. Of course 18awg, XT30, some 10a charge jack would be better.
The 5.5x2.1 slightly warm, the wire is very warm, the JST is hot
Yeah I got confused.

rated for 3A. XT30 upgrade is a good call.

20awg at 11a max so itās reasonable itās warm. 18awg seems safer.
Heh the dc jack is usually good for 5a but itās holding out the best here. XLR seems very standard in ebikes, and can do 10a on each pin.
Well shitā¦I already spent a bunch of money on the connectors. I guess itāll be okay for my 10s systems
I have a big pile of XLR and XT30 and 18awg. Maybe I can do $10 shipped priority? From NJ.
Heh lucky you I recently bought a bunch of this
I will definitely take you up on that! Youāre a savior. I just checked and I only have 10/12/22 awg with some scraps of 14/16 awg
GX12 is perfect for charging, if you get the 4 pin you can use 2+2 pins and charge up to 10 A
I went this route after meting a bunch of 2.5mm plugs and charge ports
Hobbyking is a good source
Found a spec sheet. https://www.sunrom.com/get/666875
GX12 4pin is 5A per pin. Thinking out loud, itās not really waterproof (IP55 is dust) according to google wisdom. I donāt think this really matters, as weāre not plugged in while riding, so the cap system has to be waterproof. Not sure if thatās the case. Splitting 1 wire onto 2 pins will require careful insulating at the back of the connector.
A good point is you can buy either end of the connector separately for cheap. Great if youāre standardizing and have a stupid number of boards.
This SP13 might be better. The mounting hole is about the same size. Itās designated waterproof, with a designed and built in cap. 13A per pin at 2 or 3 pin. Looks like you can get male/female or female/male. If we can believe the specs, 500 mating cycles.

Pretty cheap on aliexpress, about $2-3 per set. Can find single side for sale, but not cheaper than sets.
I can see switching over to these from XLRā¦
For external balance connectors, SP20-14 seems hopeful. Anything smaller is gonna be super hard to solder.
Iām auditioning a bunch of connectorsā¦
The caps to the gx connectors have a rubber seal which I think would do a pretty good job of waterproofing.
Meepo uses 5.5x2.5. Get an adapter to 2.1 or rewrite your charger to 2.5, that will fit on both.
Right so I have got the battery hooked up to the socket on the box and up until this point, it doesnt really matter the order of my balance wiresā¦
But now I need to fit my plug to this plug that connects to the UP1200AC Plus 12s balance charger. I need to make sure that the correct pins line up with the correct pins. I tried powering the charger and reading the pins with the multimeter but the pins out from the charger arenāt reading anything, which Iām not really surprised by with no battery attached.
Canāt seem to find a schematic anywhere for this particular plug, anyone able to help? @Andy87 @Trampa
