I’ve had good luck by fanning out 10/12 awg wire and filling with flux. Then just place on the solder that you want gone, and heat up with iron. Sucks up 98% of solder easy

Hey guys.

I got a lot of 48 P42As

One is testing at 3.47 while the rest are at 3.54-3.56

I should just order a replacement right?

huh, why? Just charge it a bit up if you’re concerned about equalizing current.

I am just not certain if that difference could be indication there could be something wrong with the cell.

Is that a possible concern?

A very low imo. You can just test it for capacity though, if you have a charger that can count mAh.

I would totally ditch it dude.

I have a small pile of p42a that i have ditched for the same reason.

Not worth putting it into a pack only to find out later that it’s a shit cell.

There we go.

Just test it, ditching it without even checking seems wasteful…

If it ever gets too big, I’ll take them.

I use them in the vape or give them to friends who vape.

For the cost of a single cell, there’s no way I would jeopardise another 47.

Off course you have the luxury to grab one from your stash… I gotta order one. And then ordering just one seems silly…
So then is what else should I build…

It’s pretty standard practice for me to always order a few more cells than I actually need.

Before the full send days when i was ordering cells on a ‘per pack’ basis, i would always order extras.

You never end up short and eventually you end up with enough cells to make a new pack!

I always try to order an extra cell for every 50, minimum of 1 extra, never failed me

Are they all from the same batch/date code? If not then the difference could just be additional time that the one cell had to slowly self-discharge.

You can charge (identically) that one cell along with a couple of the others, wait an hour, measure their voltages, and then put them aside for a week or longer to see if the one cell drops voltage faster. Being at 4.2V shows any differences in the self-discharging much better than when at lower voltages.

Yes. This one matches the numbers on several other ones

Uhh be sad I guess, order a couple extra or see if someone near you has a few to spare

Yeppers.
I got a few extra coming.
On a good note shopping from 18650 store is very reasonable.

In the past when I have had similar experiences, the vendor was happy to replace the cells for free.

contact whoever sold it to you. they’ll replace it (if its a reputable reseller)
there’s a reason that cell is low (typically bad self discharge)
edit: i see its 18650. they should replace it for you

Is it difficult to assemble the plug by putting the balance wires into a bare plug or should I just splice the battery wires to the plug wires?
