Then rings are a good addition, although there are rings built into those cells. More importantly imo is how the ampere get taken off that strip, because it’s very thin looking.
No.
Is that even the same pack? I wouldn’t touch that. Also, crossed balance leads is a no-no.
what is crossing balance leads?

those wires are your balancing leads and they are not supposed to touch/cross eachother
can you show me an example of it done correctly?
and if they have to cross eachother, then there should be an abrasive resistant layer in between them.

is it possible to send it to someone else to get fixed properly?
sure, if you find someone that:
- You can ship to
- Even works on batteries that are not his
- Knows what he does
I would cut the Kapton with care and put fishpaper barriers wherever there’s a crossover.
hes being cool about it. hes offering to make me a new pack. he says his batteries have come a long way sense that build. but hes offering me the money back for just the cells too. so maybe i could use that to have someone else fix it. not sure what i should do.
I would probably take the cell money and have one of the wizards here build it instead.
what about the nickel and and no rings on the batteries
it cost way more then the cell money to have someone build for you
That answer was just if you were trying to save it.
Overall, too many best practices skipped.
Yes, I know. ![]()
If I were you, I would be happy to pay a real craftsman to build one for me. The cell money would just help offset the full cost.
I dont think anyone would take this. So much time would be put into defusing this shit it’ll be cheaper to buy new cells and just use this in something that doesn’t move.
Well, lets address some highlights:

- No fishpaper rings, smallest and potentially forgivable issue.
- No fish paper between groups, very not good, especially in something like a trampa that’s going to be offroad and bouncing around.
- What was this welded with? because the welds look tiny and not strong. If that nickel is .2 the welds would probably pull right off.
- The nickel strip on the first/last group looks pretty tiny.
This picture is considerably more concerning. The BMS wiring is lazy. But the discharge wiring to the XT90 is a massive red flag. It sure looks like the entire discharge circuit is going to one corner of that tiny nickel. Which means the entire pack is now not good for more than 20 amps.
So, I would not advise using that pack as it sits.

boi what the hell
I can make a better connection with a fucking tig welder
kidding
please never give me a tig welder
ill blind myself
