No higher than 80C for motors and a controller on an esk8 imo
thx guys, always appreciate the help
Could use some additional help… I used these settings when I initially set up my ubox. I’m wondering if there are any changes that I can make to squeeze a bit more speed and/or range out of the motors/battery. (without damaging anything)
Setup: 12s4p p42a, BN 6384 170kv, ubox v1
Any advice is appreciated
Bump your motor amps to 90 per side and set your battery to 50 per side. Should bump up low end toque
As you have it rn, having higher battery amps than motor amps does nothing.
Those motors can also take 100 motor amps, but I’m not sure how much I trust a ubox with that.
I’ve got my Ubox V2 75V delivering 105 motor amps per side without a problem so far And yes I’m hitting those figures!! Set to 75 battery amps per side too
any changes I can make to battery cutoff to try and squeeze some more range?
OK thx…
Have you free Discount Code for orders this time ?
What are your limits now and what’s your pack config?
I would change your settings to
40 battery amps per Side
And if you are running any sort of 6374 or larger motor try 90 and even 100 motor amps per side.
There is no reason to have higher battery than motor amps
what do you mean when you say per side? sorry dad I’m new to this
Do you see where it says
Direct active and 15
This means you are currently connected to one side of the vesc and your can ID 15 is the other side.
You can switch between there by clicking the 15.
So set those values to both CAN IDs
thank you!
When you change the values on each side, before you move to the next side you have to scroll all the way down and hit “save to esc” then you have to do the save to the other CAN ID
what should my regen settings be?
You regen looks fine, you are going to have really strong breaking at speed, so if you feel they are too strong, adjust it down to like -25 or -20 and see how that feels. Keep In mind if you are using the freesk8 tool you have to always charge the setting to both CAN IDs and save to both. Try out your new settings and let us know how the board feels, it should feel more gutsy at low speeds and still have really good all around performance.
Also with any setting changes always take it very easy your first couple rides and get used to the feel of your board
Just changed it. Going for a ride now, will report results. Thanks so much for the help!
Feels great. Brakes at -40 aren’t quite punchy enough for me. Going to try 45-50. The torque difference is massive… makes my Low mode a lot more viable on hills, and High is going to probably destroy most production boards around. Surprised I rode this board with such strange settings for so long… Thanks again for all the help, really appreciate it.
What is your drive train?
BN 190kv motors? 1:28 ratio?
