+rep for Spintend for providing me with a new unit after mine burnt down with zero cost. After contacting via email, the package was shipped next day and arrived in 9 days to Lithuania, I think this is the fastest I have got anything from China.

I am finally ready to program the vesc. I got everything setup!! Battery, motors, gear drives, etc. Do I need to update the spintend i got less than 6 months ago? Can I use the latest VESC software from https://vesc-project.com/ ? Is there anything to know since Spintend is based on VESC but not official VESC?

Use the custom firmware from Spintends’s site.

Thank you for your reply @BillGordon Here is a response email I got from Spintend:

There is no Windows version in the Google Drive link. So I do not know what to use exactly…

Also they say in the email that I do not need to update firmware but they provide one on their website.

Is there any step by step guide for Spintend ubox? I am afraid to mess things up.

You must have a newer release with proper firmware. Cool. Now just follow the Vesc Tool guide (on the official site/choose medium outrunner) and you’ll be good to go.

Ubox can handle that easily. Just be careful about adding another series group

OK thanks if you see smoke on the horizon then there was a problem

How about 14s?
13s an unlucky number

so I hear if you go from 12 to 16S the same amount of heat gets you farther up the hill

oh course - heat = amps
20amps * 42v =840w
20amps * 60v = 1200w
same heat

I just had a strange dream where they made the spintend slightly bigger then @b264 was making an AWD with one old one and one new one.

Am I thinking about diy esk8 too much!?!?
