Skunks carver/mtb mut

Okay… it’s been awhile since I made a build thread, and my last two were never completed. Big F.

This will be my first build where I build the battery myself.

Goals.

*I want something I can ride all year round in PNW weather (it’s wet. Like really wet)
That means waterproofingand water resistant is extremely important. I’ll be poking @b264 for is secrets.

this ^^^

is part of the reason I went with a top Mount enclosure. Plus these first gen Eboard solution decks have an extremely thin enclosure that I would definitely brake and it would never fit a 12s10p of 30q let alone 40t.

*My fastest build yet was 39mph so that’s the minimum on this thing.

*eventually want 4wd. Eventually

because ^^^^
  1. I’m a bigger guy at 200lb
  2. I’m surrounded in every direction by multiple long steep Hills. There’s literally no avoiding them.
  3. I’ve ridden a lot of other people’s board’s. I know how different setups feel. Every 2-wheel drive board I’ve ridden leaves me wanting more.
  4. I’ve got a 10p battery, so why not lol

It will be 2wd at first, so who knows maybe I’ll be satisfied. Maybe.

parts

Deck - @EboardSolutions first gen deck ( @Sender ised )
Trucks - @MBS oil slick matrix ll
Wheels - rockstar / rockstar pros
Pulleys - basic 72t ones off mbs site for now
Esc- @kevingraehl unity ( dont Lynch me lol )
Heating - from @surfnacho
Motor’s - @torqueboards 6380 190k
Battery - 12s10p 40t
Bms - well get to that
Case - amazon special
Remote - puck with @DRI Bruce Casemail

so far

I haven’t done much yet.

First I put the board together so I could roll around my driveway.

Turns out my pro hubs had a slight QC issue.

But mbs was cool and sent another ( just not here yet)
So I’m rocking the plastic rockstars, kinda wanna hydro dip them.
https://www.amazon.com/Skulls-Roses-Hydrographic-Water-Transfer/dp/B06XBJ1WCT/ref=sr_1_14?dchild=1&keywords=hydro+dip+skulls&qid=1602692918&sr=8-14
Maybe after i get it running.

Then my motor’s showed up from Dex (48 hours after ordering! )

Realized there was a light clearance issue with the sharp edges on inside of motor mount and phase wires. So gave it a shave.

After realizing I’m not going to get oil slick motor mounts I decided to paint them to match the roses on the deck.

Then I got a file for mount bash guards from @EboardSolutions https://forum.esk8.news/uploads/short-url/cZxdMNwETHCML2WLyYrUfpiZQfh.STL

Fit first print, and tossed some reflective tape on there. Pretty happy with the outcome.

I also decided to print a puck puck Bruce Case for my remote.
https://forum.freesk8.org/t/puck-puck-bruce/265
I’m still learning with my printer but it came out pretty good.

I ultimately decided to ask @Venom121212 to print one just because I didn’t have the colors I wanted and I knew he would.

Next came testing all these cells. Opening 120 of these little box’s sucked lol

All good at 3.43

Next let’s glue those fuckers together

last thing i did that im not sure is gonna stay, i printed some sk3 motor fans/covers. i incressed the overall size by 10% and its a pretty good fit. i just dont know if they hurt or help the motors but i do like how they look. this was my first print. im gonna try changing some other things, not sure if theyll end up on the final version of this board.

Im currently waiting on my malectrics spot welder, big thank you to @J0ker for working a deal with me on some things i had and ordering it.

I’m also waiting on my DRI order so I can put rings on the cells.

When all that get’s here I’ll start working on the battery.

The plan is to use DRI pre cut 8p .2 nickel.

Something like this.

And just like that @DRI delivers

What kind of paint did you use for your motor mounts? I’ve been looking around Portland for someone who could anodize mine, but haven’t had any luck (everyone deals in larger volumes).

This build is going to be a monster.

I expect lots of filthy pics when its done.

Literally the perfect for my battery. And I don’t like the junction box look. Just.ordered one !

Are you going to be using bindings? If not, you could use some foam to create foot-holds around the middle box, so that you can jump with the thing similarly to an EUC

No because it’s primary a street board and I’ve already been hit by cars multiple times while skateboarding.
I fear what would happen if I was attached to the deck if it happened again.

The glass frit is really good at keeping grip.
I might do a half foot hook up front so I can lift the nose a bit when needed, and a good footstop on the rear.

It’s probably gonna be too heavy lol

You could fiberglass over it

I could. But It would still only hold like a 12s5p at best, and that’s 30q. Might even be 12s4p max.

Put ur drugs in there.

Not sure what your esc mounting/enclosure idea is or if I missed it, but it might be cool to have your electronics in the bottom encl, especially w/ the battery taking up most of that center box.
Personally not a fan of top mount esc aesthetics, but they’re necessary some times. I think you can get away with something cool here w/ BMS/battery accessories/power converters/etc in the center two compartments, and a dual ESC in each of the ends. Plenty of room for vibration dampening/cooling/waterproofing.

FWIW, I’ve smacked my enclosure a few times and dragged it over the occasional speed bump and you can barely tell. I’m on 6" tires and really don’t have to try hard to avoid hitting stuff on it.

The bms luckily will fit in the lid of the case.
I am hoping to put the esc/'s in the bottom enclosure, along with a few other things and wire routing. But currently I’m not very confident in that being waterproof.
My enclosure already broke in multiple spots and I don’t have the stuff to fix it.

Truck bed liner, probably.
