Now someone explain to me why 18s and 265lv is going to blow up? Erpm limit something something…will be using the new 22s ubox or maybe stormcore 100D

Thems some big cans. I favor the ubox to run em.

120k erpm. Vesc6 is rated to 150k, but I believe there’s a reason we don’t go above 100k

Wants a `100 mph board, and I worry Yall? hahahhahahahah

Oh, and one haikuchu at that speed, and the jig is up.

Do some no load tests at full speed and see how much current draw they have, preferably with an external current meter on the battery wires, VESC (any, original or derivatives) current measurement sucks at low current values, and how hot and how quick they get

What kills most motors at high speed is the core losses they have, in your case, having a larger diameter increases core losses, having more poles increase core losses and spinning them faster increase the core losses, so doesn’t look good, maybe they have enough airflow to prevent if from melting

Apart from that they could simply explode due to the RPM, would be wise to test it first while you are well protected

Otherwise I want to see this board ripping

Is core losses eddy current / induction related stuff?

Yeah, it’s mostly eddy losses, induced current circulating on the iron of the stator + hysteresis losses, losses due to changing magnetic field on it. To a lesse degree you have eddy losses on the copper windings itself and also on the can back iron, all get worse the faster you spin

Doesn’t this depend on stator plate thickness? Thinner plates = less iron losses at higher RPMs?

The old 0.30mm 80100 motors struggled above 8-9k, but this motor is 0.20mm and some of the new 80100s are even 0.15mm

Yes, but core losses go up with speed, poles and diameter (and stator height) so even if this motor has 0.15 mm plates, it still has a lot working against low core losses

Lamination thickness only helps on eddy losses, hysteresis stays the same since is the same volume of iron you have to switch field direction all the time

:exploding_head: some smart people up in this thread, maybe I should hand over the keys to this build to one y’all :grinning::flushed:

Your going to after 13 mi of riding

If that doesn’t work because they heat too much, see if you can find a beefy inrunner of similar Kv, they usually have way less poles, so can be spun at high rpm without melting

Hahahaha truuue that’s what I said at the beginning

We both have a condition where we can’t hang onto a board for longer than a month or two

Legit disability

Lmao.

I’ve had this one for a month exactly. Might as well start typing up a rough draft of the sales thread

Man it’s such a nice build tho

It really is. Every build gets better and better, but this one… so nice. Only thing holding it back is 12s. Feels weak as heck going from 18s haha

That build is fuckin badass tho. True builders are more addicted to building than ridi g tho, atleast I am :innocent:
