You shouldn’t be spinning these motors over 12k rpm imo. The high number of poles and the crazy cogging torque means they well develop a lot of heat from eddy current losses. They will be a good low rpm (<10k) high torque motor from what I can gather
Im planning on running the 179kv’s at 16, maybe 18S down the line, whats your opinions there? Priority is absolute performance, efficiency and heat be damned haha.
If you are using vesc you might have sync issues at high rpms. Dangerous experiment so make sure you pad up. Cant comment on efficiency yet since the cooling system in that motor should work reasonably well but 12k rpm would get pretty toasty I think
How are the 7490s? Does anyone have them up and running?
I’ve been considering them for an HV build.
Ive got em, they run nice and smooth at 13S on a spintend ubox, 100A motor. Only concern would be if your vesc can handle the erpm with the higher pole pair count and high voltage.
I’m wanting to go 20s. Top speed of around 45mph. My goal is I can start to turn down the motor and battery amps.
Maybe the 135kv would be okay there? Youd want to do the math on if thats within erpm limits
That should be fine. Isn’t erpm 150k?
It’s dicey above 100k i don’t know that anyone is actually doing it
But if you wanna try
I have exactly 1 set left
How many poles were these?
20 pole
20 poles each, 40 poles total?
10 pole pairs 20 separate poles
Those 179kv’s accounted for? Kinda tempted to dive into a 4WD setup lol.
They are not! Also last set!
That’s a bit low for 4WD. Probably want ~210
High KV on these motors isnt an option, too much erpm. (Atleast if i want to run moderately high voltage)
