Should I buy a Onewheel Pint?

IMHO fangs (little tiny front wheels for a funwheel) are a safety feature and not a trinket.

I’d recommend not trying to go fast. Absolutely not being so new.

They’re not meant to handle high speeds, and the risk of riding beyond pushback is substantial. The Pint’s pushback is quick and aggressive, for the most part to make sure a rider doesn’t overpower it and have a cutout. Which, depending on your weight and speed, can be easy to do.

The headroom on the original Pint is pretty small, mainly because of the battery. On the Pint X, there’s a bit more headroom. XR is…odd, because there’s more headroom but less punch and more subtle pushback.

I’m glad you’re alright after the fall. Onewheel crashes at speed can be very rough. They don’t treat the body the same way as more common eskate falls do. Nosedives can kind of just slam you onto the ground with little forward slide and more downward impact.

Anyway, the ride can be harsh. Lower tire PSI can help, but it’ll reduce the range and power response since it taxes the board more. A softer tire can often reduce the microimpacts that get transferred to your knees.

Also, stance makes a difference. Part of why using a full body lean to move isn’t ideal is because it can lead to uneven weight distribution between the legs for much of the ride. I’ve moved to keeping centered and low-ish over the tire, and using my hips to accelerate or decelerate. Essentially, hip thrust in the direction I want to go. Takes some strain off the knees and puts it onto the feet and hips instead.

Practice helps with fatigue as well.

Glad you’re enjoying it.

The pint fangs also add a handle to the front bumper, which I really like.

I am enjoying the toy.
I had not ridden a board since I got it Tuesday…
time is limited and gets dark early and gets cold after dark…

so I have only been wanting to spend the free time on it since it is a new thing…

a much shorter ride than with an esk8 seems to take a lot out of me…

yeah.
I am really not trying to push it.

but I just figured I would have to be holding back not to push it …

and thus far I can’t figure out how to push it.
I have not gotten to go full speed and feel the push back…

I want to understand what that is like…

the thing is that I am really not convinced they would actually help me…

or if I get that jerk down I am slamming regardless…

but still probably still worth getting…

I am now annoyed because I should get them but had already spend money on pint bumpers and a slide pad …

oh well

it reminded me of the time I had a cutout that really stopped my board and slammed me down…

I’m 220 with gear.
psi was at 18.5
what is the lowest I can try it for pavement riding?

I have seen the videos explaining this and have it in my mind but not sure I know what I am doing or how to correct it …

so what in the world is the difference between Pacific x and Skyline X.

I am enjoying it for sure.
am
nd missed riding it today…

I picked up a float wheel kit a few months back without any real research. Now after watching @surfdado and @TheBoardGarage videos, I’m leaning towards just buying a one wheel. The refinement and ride enjoyment of the fully developed onewheel seem substantially ahead of what can be built via diy at the moment. At least at my skill level.

I’m loving my pint x! yes it’s damn slow, but it’s so different compare to esk8 or anything else. I just need to get better at it.

Whelp, after watching too many onewheel videos, I pulled the trigger on a GT. Ship date is supposed to be Jan 31st…

Days are getting super short here…
So as soon as I was off work I took the kids to the playground.
took the boys and the OneWheel in the trailer.

So while they were playing I got to Float around… and it was super fun.

went down a burley grass hill…
and did a curb drop (to grass and like 3 inches but still)…
did a little grass bank…

I have taken the little boards with me before and it is fun… but not nearly as fun.
and there is rubber mulch every where.

so anyways. great use scenario for the Pint.

Your next task is solving the puzzle of how to connect a trailer to a funwheel.

They’re trying to get rid of daylight savings (rather permeant daylight savings) as apparently people are less depressed as a result? It’s called the sunshine protection act or something and they’re gonna try and send it through Congress again soon
