I’ve ridden the Onewheel a few times now, took a little time to get use to it though.
I most definitely would want one and I’d probably get one if I could but getting one in New Zealand isn’t easy or cheap.

FTFY
Haha, to true, nothing worse than buying something then the shipping cost more than what you’ve brought.
What you got in the pipeline at present pal? How’s the 4WD beast doing?
Hey bro! 4wd is great. I’ve been slacking and haven’t been up to much. My pneumy street / at build needs me to build a battery, but got distracted this week by a FB deal for MTB drivetrain which I snapped up. Wanted a blem BRO from the uk, but shipping cost and gst is the same total price as the deck, so canned that. Woulda been about $600NZ all up (just too much for me) . Now I have more things I want to build. Maybe make a MTB deck cos I have all the materials. Should probably finish the other build first tho. Stupid busy at (real) work tho, and WFH/covid (in my garage) so my esk8 building area has been taken over.
Haha, I’ve had a very unproductive few months with the 2 builds I’ve got going on, then I slipped a disk in my back playing football and finally got round to getting them going again ( 3 weeks off work ).
Im hoping Demonseed geardrive will be done this week and the Ecomobl ET2 rebuild will follow shortly both should be pretty decent when done both 12s5p builds and 6374 motors on each.
I’ve then got my endeavour pro which im upgrading to a 16s6p p42 battery pack with 6384’s IDEA esc mounting enclosure and a Davega X and metr pro to round it off.
Now this should be an absolute weapon when finished.
I’m borrowing one(a XR) from a friend. IDK if I wanna own one right now(with the GT shit going on too) but they are definitely cool. An older model that allows modifications might be better tho.
The Drama around the GT is pretty intense.
I go back and forth a bunch everyday now on whether I want an XR or a GT…
I think I want a GT because of riding mostly on roads and being heavier …
but an XR would be so much less of a initial hit dollars wise. but then I’d buy all these parts …
I also would hope by the time I ordered and got my GT they may have some of the issues resolved…
Buy a used XR, can’t go wrong. Plus you won’t be giving FM your money directly.
until I nosedive …
What do you mean?
That’s not limited to the XR though
people have gone like 32 on the GT without nosediving. I think its safe to say that it has a lot more power and can keep you balancing much better.
Assuming it doesn’t happen to die in the process
Got my GT yesterday, about 10 miles in. I’m 210lbs and live in a moderately hilly area. The GT is not perfect, but…get it.
It feels much heavier carrying around. It feels somewhat more top heavy on reverts and if I was capable of a 360 it would probably roll over. Otherwise, the added weight is unnoticeable. The tire (I have treaded) is much harder than the Hoosier whisper, and noticeably harder than the PX stock tire, but the shape is actually quite good in my opinion. It’s stable and carves well. I’m riding at 20psi. That said, I’m hopeful it will break in after a couple hundred miles and soften up.
The power and safety…this is the juice…why it’s worth it. I’m getting pushback at about 19mph. I’ve yet to feel any surging at all. I can now cruise at 17-18mph comfortably (pretty much my old esk8 carving speed). I get up hills without traversing back and forth across the full lane or full road on steep hills.
Concave footpads. These things feel noticeably harder to me. I’m riding kush pads on both my PX and KR. However, the locked in feel is sooo much better for me. To me, this is a notable upgrade.
Curb nudges. Also noticeably easier on the GT. It did take a few runs to get used to the increased height of the deck, but now I’m hitting nudges much more consistently than the XR.
Again this is after 10 miles. I’ll update further. Let me know if you have other specific questions.
Cheers
Most the reviews out so far are from expert/pro riders. The GT will be a far better board for the average user in my opinion.
yep.
I super want it dude.
need to figure out how to hussle my wife into letting me pull the trigger.
I still have not had the full inspiration to really try curb nudges on the Pint…
Enjoy it dude.
I am looking forward to hearing more about it.
This is such a fine skill. Honestly, I think my wife forgot how many boards I have. Just like I’ve forgotten how many purses and shoes she has
Hey Mate I don’t know if it’s too late, but I wouldn’t get a pint, unless it’s exclusively for the kids. The XR is loads of fun (as the GT most probably will be), the pint just gets sketchy really quick and is just too small to handle nicely in my opinion, we have one of each to demo in the shop, and I always use the XR to go get lunch, but if the XR is out of battery or something, I’d rather walk that take the pint… Personal opinion but hope this helps!
all good dude.
I got a pint X
really wish I had gotten an XR to start with…
i
for the bigger standing platform.
but I 100% want the GT now.
I do love floating and put 430 miles on the PX already and ride it almost everyday.
so I am still stoked I got it.
