I need to remove the plastic layer on mine. Does it work every time now?
95% vs 50%
I can finally dismount without hopping off with both feet.
Just gonna put this here
Nothing like floating the hallway
The floatwheel is awesome, especially with vesc fw5.3
Did you use the kit battery or make your own? Also, have you ridden a onewheel before? If so, how does the floatwheel compare?
I had @JoeyZ5 build me a sexy 12s2p p42a pack. I have a 18mm riser on the rear which makes it feel like the nose is always down.
It feels like an extra torquey pint, but I have very little ride time on a pint. The tire is even more round until it’s worn down a bit, which makes it extremely carvey.
Evan.
do you have their ESC in there?
Yeap. Balancepro gold.
So I did a side by side comparison ride last night. Keep in mind I still have the stock tire on the PX and upgraded to the Whisper on the XR.
Ride comfort = both feel reasonably comfortable up to about 4 miles. Beyond that range the larger XR platform starts to shine as I can more easily shift my feet around.
Power = the PX has noticeably more torque. I find myself climbing hills with less stress and greater speed on the PX. If I was pushing the top end speed, I’m sure I’d favor the XR here, but keeping my speed below 18mph, the PX has a clear advantage in my opinion.
Carving = PX seems to have less swing weight (probably due to shorter tire), but since I’ve added the whisper, the XR carves just as easily. I’ll call this a tie.
Stability = probably no surprise, but the XR is more stable in every situation than the PX. Better for bumpy roads, better at off-road, much much better for curb drops, etc. This leads to greater confidence and ultimately (for me) more fun.
All that said, there is still something really compelling about the PX. If I was carving smooth roads with maybe a hill or two, I’d prefer the PX, but in any other scenario I’d take the XR.
dude.
this is all so good.
I still want an XR.
but I totally wonder if I got one, if the pint would get any action.
the deal with the torque is weird to me.
I have seen people make that comment too…
I wonder if I would be bummed on that.
one thing I thought to myself on these…
I like it on flat ground.
hills make me nervous… both going down and going up because I am super paranoid it will nosedive on me…
every pint owner says this.
every pint + xr owner does this.
I cant wait till my floatwheel is fully rideable. gonna be a commuter for me because of how compact it is compared to my boards
What mode do you run your XR in?
Mission. I also ride my PX in pacific x. Just like the feeling better. I also nosedived pretty hard in skyline x going up hill.
Maybe that’s why the XR has less kick to it
On the PX, I just make sure I’m carving up the hills and if I feel it surge, I slow down. If do that I’m fine. The one time I nosedived uphill was when the PX shit the bed (FM replaced my battery).
There is one short steep hill the XR feels like it will barely make, but the PX has little trouble with. That bothers me and I go out of my way to avoid that hill when on the XR.
So, if you’re in a hilly area, I’d say maybe stick with the PX…or say “F it” and get a GT.
yea I want more “punch” lol! I’ll wait until later in the year to get the GT.
The XR has the same motor with a larger tire, effectively having a different drive ratio.
yep.
can’t wait for them to be in the wild…
This is not true.
