Direct driving will always produce less torque than reduction gearing. But for most these can produce lots of power.
in my humble opinion the issue with smaller motors or hub motors in general is not how much torque they can generate, that you can adjust in the vesc tool to a certain degree. but rather rather how well it copes with heat.
Have you considered putting heat sinks on your trucks
What about a liquid cooling pipe in the trucks,…
wait, some brand tried that recently, but pretty sure it didn’t do much, and was actually just up-cycled crack pipes from the owner
As if he’d let these go
Split the power between 4 hubs perhaps?
Greeeat review thank dude! So fast to get in on the road.
Can you compare the feeling of torque to something like a 2x6355 belt drive geared for similar top speed?
29.6mph top speed on 12s? Haha 13s time.
Insider joke no?
Yes much yes
how’s the breaking power on these things?
can you come to a complete stop on level ground?
how slow can you go downhill with full breaks?
my only experience with hubs are mellows
Jason tried to (and maybe even started to?) sue someone over using his heat removal idea that has existed since thermal transfer has.
I’m an outlaw
I’m calling the FBI.
If you use active brakes you could even come to a complete stop downhill
I swear I’ve read someone say bustin is using the same motor design as backfire/exway. Could be wrong though.
Yeah like you’re saying, the heat can be a problem. This is why Jeff took into consideration the thickness of the urethane, which is basically like a hub motor cozy, to make sure it’s not so thick that some heat can’t get through it.
Either way, how much heat you put into the hub motors in the first place depends a lot on outside temperature, the weight of the rider, and how many hills / hard accelerations you encounter in a normal ride. Sometimes my Landwheel hub motors that I run at 35A don’t even get more than warm doing hills, but if it’s hot outside sometimes its a different story
I don’t believes anything you say now. Your board is too shiny. Therfore you don’t ride.
They definitely look like them. The way the sleeve doesn’t sit flush at the inner side.
Those were tge pictures of when he built it me remember, me read that thread.
Thanks you !!
