*SCAM ALERT* neoBOX open source Focbox variant (HW 4 and HW6 Design)

What on earth are you talking about? Anything that makes life easier is good. Yes we can solder but why not get it done at the factory right in the first place.

I would say 12awg for phase to cater for the single drive guys and gals and 10awg for power because everyone is going big volts and amps lately.

Connectors? This now gets us into the famous warranty issue that was so enertion. Supply with cables only and someone wires up an xt backwards…

I would be going with XT90 for power and MR/MT for phases or 4mm bullets. I like bullets.

Got one here with your name on it. :kissing_heart:

Our plan was not use cable, but just solder bullet connector directly to PCB. Same for power also, this making sure lowest contact resistance on PCB.

Thats a terrible idea

Dexter, don’t let anyone talk you into rushing things, just do your thing the way you do your thing, because I for one would rather see awesome products than rushed products or preorders

Just copy as is and make sure the micro usb or whatever is going to be used stays on. Some of the old focboxes had issues with the usb port falling off… wondering where the entire truck load of returned focboxes went? I am offering 500 bucks for the entire lot

12awg phase with 4mm bullets is perfect. 5.5 is overkill. 10awg with xt90 for power

Port should not falling off, this mean no good solder. We plan using USB-C connector.

No direct connection to pcb please. Its prone to vibration failure. Wires are good.

If correctly solder to PCB then it can be more reliable than wire. Can also epoxy your reinforce.

It’s easier to waterproof if the USB port is on a wire though

Also I can imagine most people just desoldering the connectors and putting wires on instead.

There isn’t a connector that everyone uses. Everyone builds different.

Just some wires from the esc is all is needed my friend. We all connect differently. We are like autistic children.

Ok we can do no problem. We make wire connect.

Great idea. Focbox again alive. I agree with wires for the motor phase. About bullet size we can always change it. Maybe not even solder them so we can decide.

We just leave wire then. We target price of $99 for each.

That’s good. I have a 12s battery coming so would be great to test them with it. Let us know when they are ready

12 AWG phases, and 12 AWG power wires.

XT90 connectors since most use it, cut it off and solder a XT60 if you prefer a smaller space in the enclosure.

5.5mm bullets are good. Once again, for those who use smaller ones, solder your own. Enertion had their 3.5mm and XT60s but I see many with the connectors replaced :sleepy:

That what I mean. If we want to keep price down better remove what can be simple solder by ourself. I had to modify length and bullet on all my vesc so maybe is better to only have cable and we can decide how to set it up. Better to reduce cost in this way then with cheaper components. Not always the bigger connector is the best. Sometimes it is not needed and takes a lot of space.
Just my opinion

Totally agree on 12awg

Bingo bango boom.

Nail on the head as usual Alessio. You just cut to the chase

Think I have a bro crush dude. Sorry.

Yes yes! Flipsky’s ESCs had no connectors, only pre tinned ends, and it’s great. I went with the connector route as some prefer a plug and play. Could someone make a poll?!
