My little bro has a micro scalextric (1:64)which he just found again after being hidden under the bed for 5 years
He put it together and when he tried running it the car wouldn’t move
I checked voltage all around and the circuit which both were complete so need a bit of help on 2 things.
1- how can i fix this
2- how would you build a better version of a scalextric based on our knowledge of a circuit driving a motor?
Thanks for the help

@Halbj613 do the cars still work on the powerbase at least?
I’m assuming you’ve made sure the contacts on the car are clean too

Yep replaced the contacts and they are clean
Also @longhairedboy please say you are joking about never having seen hem before
They work on the powerbase though?

What do you mean on the power base?
The main part of the track that supplies power to the rest of the track

Like this but for the micro version

Nah they don’t work there either
Also I have the older version then that the 1:32 model which worked slightly differently

You can also just measure voltage across the rails to see if they work. Of it works partially, then some of the tracks may not be connected properly.
Otherwise it’s the cars motor

Do you have a PSU to test the car? Just wire a low current voltage across the brushes and see if it goes. Start at 1 v and ramp up slowly while keeping the current regulated

Now you got me confused, do you have the micro set (1:64 scale) or the regular 1:32 scale set?

I tried like 4 different cars and none work
Also if I checked at the beginning and the end of the track and both had the same voltage could it be the voltage is lower on the bridges between the 2
Sorry yeah have the 1:64 micro one
Also don’t have a psu so can’t do that

Hmm that’s really weird. I’m no expert . Can you put on a car and measure again while giving some throttle? Maybe the PSU is collapsing
Otherwise, I remember my remotes giving out. I think the cables were generally crap and probe to breaks

Not since i was a kid. Not a lot of slotcars in my life, but when i was a small child in the very late 70s and very early 80’s my older brother had a set from this brand.
i seriously want a 1:32 set now, especially since there’s a DMC-12 i can get that is currently sold out.

I measure do with throttle as when there wasn’t any throttle it was at 0 volts
19.5 volts when I was full throttle
I’m about to bust out the mario kart slot car track when I get home.
I just need to make an esk8 shaped slot car body now…
