I linked this one because it claims “The system can be made operational again independently by the user after it has been triggered / inflated.” and it can be used independently of the bike( I dont have any experience with them but I read that you used to have to connect these vests to the bike).
All the sleeve style protective gear I’ve tried slides out of the way too easily unfortunately. Bummer because I really liked my g form elbow pads lightness and breathability. May be ok for offroad but on road didn’t protect too much.
These Fox Launch are what I use when I want max pad protection for my legs without wearing Kevlar pants or something. Plus, they’re relatively cool due to the open back, and easy to put on or take off quickly. I added some D3O pads which really help absorb a lot more shock than just the Fox pads alone which don’t have much padding by themselves. I’m around 200lbs/90kg geared up, and I can drop all my weight on to one knee and barely feel a thing. Dropping to both knees at the same time, I feel nothing. I haven’t had the pleasure of testing these in a real fall yet, but I have tested the full weight knee drops and slides on the concrete in my garage, and feel pretty confident about them. I like the shin protection and smooth, rounded knee cap shell, because I’m sure that when I go down, it won’t be straight onto my knees, so these give me a lot more confidence to be able to impact and slide out on my knees and shins (hopefully).
Also, I just realized see this particular hard shell “Launch” pad seems to be discontinued, so you’d probably need to find a pair on eBay or something. Another option which I also have, are the Fox Titan Race knee/shin guards. These feel pretty similar, and fit well, despite not having the upper knee strap, and again, with the D3O pads added, they feel like they can take some serious impact. Also, with both of these knee/shin guards, the strap “latching” mechanisms are super quick and don’t require you to adjust the straps each time, which is really nice.
Did you buy all of those to try? I think I looked at every damn knee & knee/shin guard out there, and nothing seemed to tick all the necessary boxes for me for coverage, hard shell shape, fit & padding, so I came up with my own combo. The hinged Leatt ones look similar to the Fox Titan Pro knee/shin guards, which I also considered, but in both cases, I was concerned about how they would perform in a slide, either straight on or at an angle. I like how they wrap around the knee and shin, but I feel like the lower part of the Leatt dual axis might catch on the ground, while the raised cap of the Fox Titan Pro seems like it could interfere with a smooth slide. I almost got a set of the Fox Launch Pro knee pads you linked, and liked the cap shape, but the price, lack of side coverage, and lack of shin guards steered me away.
I kind of ride like an old lady too, mostly on road, some off road, but I figure in most crashes, the knees will probably hit first, and probably at an angle or sideways. So, the more area I have to absorb the initial impact which could likely be the side of my knee or shin, and the more area I have to slide out a crash means I’m less likely to get road rash on my legs, or have to absorb the rest of the impact through more delicate parts of my body like hands, shoulders, elbows. At least that’s my theory.
I’m curius to know what you think of all those pads. I haven’t seen the Titan Pro D3O versions, but those look promising.
Haven’t use them (or crashed in them obv) yet, but they come with the Knox SPS sliders for a reasonable price.
They might get toasty in hot weather riding (reviews say they’re fine, but they’re also probably written by people who ride motorcycles lol) considering they’re leather and only have a bit of venting, but I think these should be fine. It’s got hard knuckle and soft finger pads, as well as some light padding around the outside of the wrists, and of course the sliders.
These should be solid winter gloves, and there’s a slot under the knuckle pads that let you insert hand warmers which is a nice touch.
The only downside I see with these are that they have touchscreen capability only on the index fingers so you might look silly using a phone.
I reaaaaaly hope these are my endgame glove; I hate putting on and taking off padded gloves & wrist guards. Hurts my wrist on long rides.
A Medium fit me very well. I’m normally a medium with gloves in general. Hope this helps some people.
Ride safe everyone

Yeah no wrist brace = a no from me. I’m more worried about spraining my wrists than scraping my palms. I can’t afford to sprain them any more they just don’t heal.
I’ll be jumping on the flatland 3d pro fingerless as soon as they are in stock.
Got a flat tire the third time I wore this jacket and it didn’t end well.
My beautiful jacket is all messed up now.
…but I’m uninjured except for scraping my palms a bit so I count myself lucky.
Props also to my Alpinstars motorcycle jeans once again.
