We have a small group of community luminaries in a group on Telegram where we openly share ideas, designs and opinions amongst one another, with zero commercial gain in mind. Even the Kid, Kevin from Boardnamics, is treated as a full equal. Our repayment is seeing Kevin do it right for the community, full stop.
I am Jeff’s first esk8 customer, and I consider Jeff a for-real friend. Jeff’s wife has a baby on the way, and Jeff knows my nephew was just diagnosed with leukemia and is on a ventilator this morning. I’ve made introductions to other community members who will build their own brands with Jeff and Neo.
The plan is to assist a select group of new esk8 startups that will call their customers back and not take pre-orders. Two have been identified and will be born out of BAESK8.
These new brands will feature their own Neo-produced components, along with Labeda, etc. I possess zero commercial interest in the newcos, too, beyond offering no-interest, small loans that will not get me in trouble with Danielle (has to be less than our plane tickets to Dubai). I buy all my stuff at the same prices you do, and I do not accept gifts in-kind.
I am exhausted with hype, my friends. I see the best intentions of our community collapse with every failure from the next Hyperion, Enertion, Olin, Carvon.
My telegram and reddit is literally packed with the same question over, and over again - can you help me get my money back, how can we sue this company, can you help me protect my invention.
The answer is yes, I can, and the proven best practice is by developing and promoting fair competition among quality businesses to benefit the consumer. We already have several, and we can do with a couple more.
Just months ago, conventional “wisdom” laughably said China was garbage and could never catch up - despite all of us knowing that the best mobile devices in the world are literally made down the road.
Suddenly, Neo built a better FOCBOX in a week, completely from the community. Check this page tomorrow.
If this success makes a few people nervous: good.
Do suggest those who fear this progress call back your customers, honor your commitments and remember that the community that put us on the map will soon be able to take us off the map, too.
This is The Way. Welcome to 2020.
