Revel at the "brand" new competitor in the direct drive Esk8 race!

Yes the revel wheels that came with the kit ARE better than the blue caguamas i bought later on - that i can honestly attest to

With new Revel kits appearenlty arriving on doorsteps, I just want to remind everyone not to ignore vibration alerts. It is a critical battery warning. It means the voltage of the entire battery is below a safe level and the weakest cells in the battery may be lower than the average voltage. Its like ignoring the check engine light. New batteries take about six charge cycles to reach thier peak range. IT is still a bit cold out. Over depleating new battereis in cold weather is bad bad bad bad.

Remember that the ESC issues a vibration alert to protect the battery. Don’t ignore it.

Also, big wheels deplete batteries faster and causemuch more rapid voltage drops during acceleration. So Big wheels, virgin batteries and cold weather are a tripple threat.

@revel_flo you should back me up on this with a post to this thread and you should really add some battery usage instructions into the boxes and on your web site.

One more thing. The predecessor to the Revel kit remote (L3-x) remote had three blue battery lights and a red one. The revel kit battery bar has 4 bars but the last bar is indistinguisable from the first three. So treat the last bar like as if it is red or flashing red. Don’t tell yourself ā€œoh I can ignore the alert becasue I have a full bar leftā€. Instead think ā€œhey i’m already in the red zone and I just felt an alarm warning me of critically low voltageā€

Travel sized batteries and big wheels are a very bad combination for range so if thats what you have don’t be surprised if vibration alerts happen much earlier than expected and if they happen long before the fourth bar.

@Sharneaustin

What size are the kegel wheels that you purchased? What size battery?

Bought 105mm rubber wheels, i have never tried em before.

I got the extended range battery

Can you safely change the back bushing without disconnecting motors? It looks like there isnt enough slack on motor cables, but i havnt attempted it yet

Webp files remain on your pc as links to servers… no images uploaded

I bought them from seeker board

These wont work with the kegel core adapter (as you can see from my pic) you gotta break off half the supports to make it happen

Havent tried this - @pkasanda ?

I guess those wheels are meant for a bolt through wheel pully. I guess you could make a flat donought plate, drill 4 holes for the motor bolts and drill 5 holes for the wheel bolts. You would have to do some nice countersinking of all of the holes.

Busting off half the kegel spikes seems like the resulting part would be pretty weak.

I want to replace the back bushing, not the bearing

It wont let me upload the pic, but seeker boards have a 5 pin adapter in their direct drive, and reviews i have seen have not mentioned any problems, also using same wheels as i bought

Check out the discussion we’re having on the cloudwheels, some insight into the 5 spoke vs 10 spoke kegel setups

If I recall correctly, @BearBoi has done this.

Oh, Pivot bushings. Those are easy. You need to remove the skidplate that holdes the wires to the truck. I think you can tap the pivot bolt down a centimeter or so to create a bit more slack if you need it. If you need even more space, you can pull up the rubber mat and remove the screws that hold the trucks to the drive.

I’m giving you a few options becasue the motors and possibly the trucks have changed in the latest production run and I don’t have any hands on experience wiht the new ones.

But for the first production run, all yu needed to do was remove the skit plate/wire guide. One screw.

Starting to get a little bit of mixed feelings with being advised to stop riding as soon as one bar hits as at that point I’m way below the advertised possible range. Still a lot of fun but also imo too big of a difference in advertised performance.

Also not sure what is more accurate the remote LCD or the ride app. The ride app shows a faster speed and range than the physical remote.

Also…almost died :joy:
